I have the K20Z3 and change the oil every 3k miles personally. I buy Honda Synthetic Blend 5w30 and their oil filter and have never had an issue with burning. I plan on doing the same with this engine.

My 07 Si has been using the Honda Synthetic Blend 5W-30 for most its life and some instances it used the Castrol GTX (regular oil). Oil is changed strictly every 3000 miles (never followed oil life percentage). Oil consumption has remained (and never changed) at 0.5 quart every 1500 miles (yes I do wide open throttle couple of times a day to blow all that carbon out the exhaust). I do drive 80 miles everyday at 75-90mph on the highway. At 198,320 miles, still virtually zero oil leaks except for a valve cover gasket that was changed when the vehicle have 55,000 miles, Other than that I never have to re-seal anything. I have seen enough customer owned vehicles at work that does have excessive oil consumption. This is mainly caused by lack of oil changes or prolonged service interval (maintenance minder oil life). Honda has designed the maintenance minder system to use a "guide" and "not as a law". Most people wait for that 15% oil life, depending on driving habits, most come in at 4000-8000 miles. Moving on, the 0W-20 oil we use at work is Mobil Super Synthetic. It is a half a step below Mobil1. Only difference is, Mobil1 has more additives that conforms to the european engines requirement. Mobil Super Synthetic is still a synthetic engine oil that has less additives than Mobil1. We used this in all our customer cars, never have any issues with it. My rule of thumb, I change my oil every 3000 miles. I have proven the long term effects on this method. I'm okay buying/using with any know good brand oil as long as its not recycled oil

Honda has been using 0-20 in their cars for a while now. Not sure why the CTR would be any different.

Honda also hasn't released a high strung motor for the US in a while either.

For me personally Honda engines have been hit or miss. 1996 civic one cylinder had more wear than the others and it went out. 1994 civic ran great until it didn't anymore. 2006 Si was a good car overall but used some oil. 2009 Si was a Great car. 2015 Si drank oil like it was going out of style and was really a lemon. Honda did not care about it using so much oil either.

I know, I have friends that still have them but I've had bad luck with them. On that same note family members have had some really good luck with chevy as where I had bad luck with chevy. Uncle had a 305 powered truck, 750k

My wife's trailblazer had crazy electrical problems, our ex rental impala left us stranded a few times etc.

My '13 Si runs like a champ and doesn't burn oil at all, even after the upgrades and tune.
