Went through 4 pages and no one asked HOW MUCH FOR THE INTAKE? I am interested

After 6 months, I traded my Civic for a CPO BMW 328i XDrive. I was hoping I would love the Civic, but it just was not close to the quality I expected. Rattles, creaks, wonky head unit, jerky Honda sensing, cheap materials, etc...Honda service seems to not really care about their customers. I wanted to thank everyone here for their ideas and thoughts. I was hoping to really build my car up over the next year, but I just can't live with the issues. That is not to say the car is terrible in all aspects. It has a nice ride for the most part, and has great power and gas mileage. The quality of the materials and build is really where it falls short. I did leave my splash guards and exhaust tips on the car, but I did remove the intake and I am selling that if anyone is interested.

No. that's one of my main concerns. It's very embarrassing when you start your new car and it's grinding. People would think if they weren't looking that it was an old beat up junker starting up not a 2016. And who knows what kind of mechanical damage it's doing. I brought it to the dealer and left it there all day and they couldn't duplicate it. I showed the tech working on my car the video to. They called me to pick up the car 6 hours later and when I went to the car and remote started it it made a very loud grind. No one but me was around to hear it.

Very disappointed with this car. People may be very happy when they first get the car but a few months down the line when things start settling (that's the dealers excuse) and everything starts buzzing, rattling, clicking, creeking, grinding they will see the people here with issues weren't just talking shit.
Is Honda doing anything to fix the start up grinding noise yet?

VTC actuator?

Same problem in 8th gen Accords?:

I don't know. But I did call this morning for another issue to make an appointment and before I could even tell her the problem she said what is it grinding? I dont know if she pulled up my file and saw that I brought it in months ago for that. Or they are starting to get a lot of complaints. Maybe I'll mention the grinding also when I go in on Thursday and see if they are getting more complaints.

About as silly as quoting large posts. Both are just forum etiquette. Sorry I was reading this one didn't know about a grind thread.

Wow, I gotta admit this thread certainly has me reconsidering buying a new Civic for the time being. I don't know if Honda over-engineered the Civic this time around or if they just made a cheap car that's made to fall apart so they can make a mint.

Hopefully Honda will fix these problems like they did with the 2012 Civic but man, this time around it sure looks like there's way too much technology to fix..It'll be interesting to see how reliable the 2018 Civic's turn out to be.

You can compare reliability to other brands and Honda is nearly at the top most of the time.

Not sure what you mean by a cheap car, Civic by definition is a compact made for the masses. It is not a BMW and you should not pretend it to be. I can tell you that between the 9th and 10 gen Civic there were huge improvements. Both in interior and performance.

You don't have to take my word for it, try and drive the likes of other brands and you will immediately see why 2016 civic was car of the year.

I have a 2016 and no issues here. No rattles and such. My only complaint is the quality of the materials. Like the cloth used on the seats and doors. The OP has his own experience and yeah... cannot compare a BMW with a civic. I test drove a lot of cars including base models for Mercedes and I am really happy with what I paid and what I have. Even acuras do not match to the new civic.

I believe not all civics were build the same way and many could have crappy ones but the car is mainly great and you can see it on other forums and reviews. Test drive this car and compare it to their real competitors.

Sucks that some people got bad civics. Also FYI... we will mainly bitch here about the bad stuff. It is easier to complaint about the bad things that happen. Not many will post about the things they like or look for an answer on things they like on their civic lol. My 2 cents

note: If I could I would also jump to something better. There is nothing wrong with that.

I was mainly referring to the complaints in this thread..plus I know one owner of the 2017 Sport Hatchback and he is already having troubles with the dash lights...also Consumer Reports(Mar 2017 CR New Car Buying Guide) rates the 2016 Civic as a pretty low 58. Other cars like the Corolla and Corolla iM are rated as 75. Mazda 3 get a 72, Kia Soul 71. I know some people deride Consumer Reports rating system but I still find them to be pretty accurate.

Also, I did test drive the 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport last week, it was an awesome drive in every way possible. I just think if I took the plunge right now I'd have issues with it. Thankfully I can keep the car I have now(06 Scion xB..yikes!) for a couple more years. By then I hope all the Civic's issues will be ironed out by then.

Well, for good reason. Here is last year rating grid for the Civic:

Honda Civic 10th gen Got rid of my touring coupe! A8ypkfR

To quote a previous post from myself:
On 17 criterias, there are 13 Excellent, 2 Very Good and 1 Good. There is only 1 Poor. 1 on 17. And on all the criterias, that one single Poor is not something major or critical like the engine. It's not the transmission. It's not the electrical system or the brakes. It's the radio.

So let's be honest here. The aggregate Poor rating at the top is utter bullshit. Even more so the "Much worse than average" on the 2017s, considering it's the same exact 10th gen car from 2016. The Civic's engine won't blow up anytime soon, the transmission won't fall off, the suspension won't collapse.
In short, the only bad criteria was the audio system and they flagged to whole car as having a poor reliability. Even more bizarre, they flagged the 2017 as having even worse reliability when the car wasn't even out yet.

I've looked at the same graph and it sure it misleading..they need to clarify why they say the redesign has been well below average. Still, it does seem(just read these 855 threads) the 2016 has been fraught with problems and my friend Rob is going through problems right now with his 2017 Sport Hatch.

The 2018 models can't get here fast enough.

Like any first year of any product, they have the most problems. Complete redesign with each continent/country getting diffferent versions of the same car = headaches everywhere.

Totally agree, especially with so much tech being put into cars these days. For me, the less tech the better.

How can the dealers keep up with so many Civic's coming in for repair?

I'm sad some folks aren't happy with their Civics. As for me, this is my 2nd Honda. I sold my EP3 for the down payment on this one. I have nothing really of note to compare it to. This car is a hell of a lot nicer than my EP3 was.

I also test drove the Focus RS and loved it, but it wasn't practical for me.
