$10k over sticker? That dealer is a joke! I wouldn't pay a penny over MSRP. They know demand is super high so they think they can charge whatever?
That's my guess. I'm not paying 10k over sticker. Will there a less limited release for the 2018 ? I can wait another year if that's the case.

Again. No idea. We are all under the impression that they will continue to produce the car since the Honda rep during the Geneva launch did say they plan to continue building the Type R on this platform but I'm assuming if Honda goes through any rough times or Trump's attack on foreign imports is put into place then why in the hell would they keep shipping these at a possible loss to USA. I'd do what Lotus did and just pull North American sales and sell to proper countries with proper cars ;)

I HOPE that's not the case and we see Type Rs here for the rest of this chassis till we are sick and tired of Type Rs... I mean the Golf R does really well in the USA but it almost comes in automatic and AWD.

Are the CTR's being made in the UK? I thought I read they were in the US?
The 2.0 Engine is made in Ohio then shipped to UK for vehicle assembly. Same plant that makes the Hatchback and made the FK2.

Coupe and Sedan are made in US (and various other spots around the globe)

I know R is the new hot thing but you can bet I am going to buy a Corvette if they are charging me 10k over msrp.

Yeah really. You can get an M2 or Focus RS if you wanted.

I still think 1 of 2 things will happen....

1) Some dealers will charge a mark up
2) There will be no discounts of MSRP for at least 8-12 months or when the '18's release.
I will keep trying to win this game they play..

Very likely it will be easier to get in 2018 and thus less mark-up, if any.
Possible options include waiting for market to cool a bit, or traveller further afoot to find a better deal in an area where demand is not as high..

Any thoughts on when the 2018's would be released? If it's as early as late September, then we'd only be looking at waiting another 6 months to get a newer model year.

I would think next year at the beginning of spring at the earliest. Depends on when they will be done with producing the 2017's which I think would be sometime early Autumn. :dunno:

Oh and all this markup crap is driving me nuts... Bad bad dealers... I stated it in another thread but i will state it here.. My dealer has already told me i wont get as good a deal as usual but i will get the car below msrp.. Wether its there second one (someone has a deposit on first one) or there last one a couple of years from now.. Now.. Eventho i can pay outright for it right now.. Nevermind a deposit.. I did loose my job 6 months ago.. So im likely looking at a 2019 or 2020 model.

Dont get me wrong... If honda says thats it for the u.s. at some point.. I will be at the dealer within 10 min to secure the car ive wanted (and actually own overseas) since i was 15 years old in the mid 90's.. The wife axed my import plans.. Raising cost vs danger (someday il find a vid of driving up and down the pyrennes or just record a new one for u guys) however she will not stop me from a actual n.a. release... Not when shes eyeing a lexus or benz...

I hate waiting and would love to own the first generation, but I'm anxious that they won't release another set for 2018, and I don't want a used 2017

Dealers are now starting to mark the RS below MSRP. Here are a few:

MSRP: $37k
Advertised price: $34,400

$38k > $36k

In any case, what would be my best course of action? I live in Southern California where Honda is really popular already, and know I will be having a hard time trying to be first come first serve. I'm willing to put a deposit of up to 10k but I won't pay anything more than 2-4K above MSRP.
You are correct. Will be hard in SoCal. I'm ready to put down $15k :) I'm on 4 dealer lists.
