Custom Steering Wheel

I just put an EX-L steering wheel into my 6MT EX-T

After I ordered it, I took it to a friends upholstery shop to get the stitching to match the Energy Green. Has anyone else done anything like this?



So far I love the steering wheel. Quick 30 minute install - Much better than the stock EX-T one.

Working on getting the rest of the leather pieces, I just wish they made a 6MT EX-L. :|

I thought the EX-L and the EX-T had the same steering wheel. What's the difference?

But if your friend had to change the stitching anyway, wouldn't it have been easier to buy the leather cover and just let him put it on, instead of changing the whole steering wheel out?

You can't buy just the leather cover - not OEM at least. The wheel was so cheap, just buying an aftermarket covering wouldn't be worth it. Doesn't have the OEM fit and finish that honda did so good on.

Cost for the leather wheel from honda - $100
Cost for the stitching + labor - $100

TL;DR if I wanted a cover, I would of bought a cover.

How long was shipping?

I don't know. I had mine same day, since I bought it from my dealership, which I have a wholesale account with.

It's worth it, I just went the extra rice for $100.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to swap the LX steering wheel with this?

Should be no issue as the EX-T (which I have, and upgraded) has the same P/N for the steering wheel as the LX. according to http://www.cheaperhondaparts.com/ho...el-srs-scat/?part_name=grip-nh900l-deep-black (Link is for the vinyl wheel)

The LX and EX-T do not have the same part number for the steering wheel. They are different. Look at the controls and you can see.

You can yank the controls and airbag cover to give you just the shell. You will need to switch out the bottom spoke though since EX+ models have the silver trim and the LX models don't.

I think he ordered just the outer wheel.. Not the horn and the 3 spokes and such.. Ur not getting all that for $100.. The outer wheel that you put your hands on to steer is indeed the same on the lx, ex and ex-t
