Just took delivery of my husbands 2016 Honda Civic Touring white orchard pearl and trying the figure out how to automatically engage the night modern the navi screen without having to manually adjust it with the toggle button atop the navi screen. I have my headlights on auto and my screen brightness set to maximum but this seemingly also puts the navi screen at maximum brightness as well, even at night. Am I missing something here? In my Lexus, it's much easier. I swear this car is a iPad on 4 wheels. Thanks for the advice in advance.

When you hit the brightness buttons, it cycles between three modes: full brightness (day), custom brightness (night), and off. You can tell because only on the custom brightness setting can you change it. When the headlights come on, it should go to custom mode (but this may actually be dependent on the light sensor).

If you set the custom brightness to a darker setting, does that work? You can also set the meter to a custom brightness using the little push knob on it, which will also activate when your headlights come on.

Usually on the cars, turn on your headlights and make sure the auto sensor on the dash is covered.

On some models, you can adjust the dash brightness by the knob where the gauges are!

Find the knob and turn it to maximum brightness, then rotate it to where it is one less!

If it is in maximum brightness, it will NOT automatically adjust during night time!

If your does not have the knob, you can just go into the setting, and same principal, adjust it to one less than full brightness!

When you turn the knob on the Touring, does anything pop up showing brightness level? Mine doesn't seem to be doing anything.

It won't change the brightness if your lights are off. When lights are off it's in full brightness.

Thanks so much for the info man! I was so afraid that I'd have to drive another 1.5 hr to the dealer to have it checked again. Had to do that the first week when they didn't connect my seat warmers.

On the Touring with auto headlights turned on, the interior light dimming is independent from the auto headlights and the sensitivity is adjustable on both.

With headlights on auto I believe if you turn the screen brightness down one notch it should switch to night mode. If you turn it all the way up it will switch to day mode.
