We previously showed you a new green color that will be offered on the 2016 Civic Coupe, by way of prototype spy photos. The grainy telephoto images didn't give us an accurate impression of the color, however.

But, eagle eyed members may have noticed that Honda recently gave us the first official look (and confirmation) of the green color. During the introduction for the Civic Coupe at the private reveal event that we attended last month, Honda flashed this image on screen during the presentation showing the new color on the coupe, which also confirms that the color will see production.

As you can see, the color looks similar to that of the Civic Coupe Concept which debuted in NY earlier this year.

Think it will be limited number of Civics in this green color? Kind of like the lower #2 of the orange that we see now...

This is a lame shade of green.
It seems Honda America & Canada Product Planners haven't got much of a clue beyond Black/White/Grey/Red, especially for Accord & Civic coupes (and Prelude when I bought mine).

If they can't do it properly like Ford (most colours of the rainbow, and sometimes even a couple of different shades of the same colour!!). Here is my suggestion to the HPPs....

Before you try too hard to get "creative", how about providing these basics:
- Yes, continue to provide Black/White/Grey/Red, we know they are popular (although partly because that's all that's available most of the time - we may never know!)
- A "real" blue - this means not light blue, not greeny blue ("midnight blue"), not purpley blue (navy blue, "electron blue" -retch). "real" blue is the colour of the deep sea - best examples are usually called something like "Marine Blue Pearl" or "Deep Sea Blue". I've rarely met anyone who dislikes "real" blue!!!
- A "real" green - this is not the concept lime green nor the photo above's "ninja turtle" green (I think it was called Midori Green a long time ago), but rather something like "Emerald Green", or alternatively "British Racing Green" - again keep the blue (that would be "teal") and the yellow (that would be "lime") out of it. ...take a moment to look at the colours of grass and leaves for some inspiration - people love those! lol
- Something interesting for a change - like maybe something around purple or orange or yellow or berry for a sporty car like the Si

I know this is unlikely to happen in my lifetime, but after 18 yrs of driving a Black Prelude (when in Australia they had the "Marine Blue" that was my ideal choice), I needed to vent. ....and I'm sure if the 10G Si Coupe meets my criteria and I buy it, it almost certainly won't be in my preferred colour (yes, "real" blue).

I love that they are offering this color, but I'll really have to see much more of it to give it a final yay or nay. In the spy pics it looks great. In this newest image it looks way too wild for what I'd want; though it looks like the picture itself is a bit overexposed. We shall see.

Not sure why people are taking a hard stance against this, though. Since when is having more choices a bad thing? Along with being an interesting and unique offering, it will also be the most rare on the road. Honda offered a unique color on the coupe for the introductory year of the 7th gen Civic, and I have very rarely seen one.

I totally feel you on the color choices and shades. Think that is one reason Acura sucks. Compared to Lexus and Audi not just do they have better colors but better performing vehicles. Colors are very important. Develop some nice shades of Silver and reds. The lunar silver is god awful in person like unpainted blah-ness. Alabaster Silver was ok but nothing to gawk at. Create an awesome silver. a metallic red with deep pigment of blue. The Si really needs some nice shades. COME ON HONDA ITS JUST PAINT< BUT ALSO EQUATES TO MORE SALES!!!!

The Aegean Blue color that they debuted the coupe in is a real blue IMO. Not too dark, not too light. Not too green. Not too purple.

I love the color and if green is the only new color they introduce with the Si coupe, I'll probably be getting Aegean Blue.
I do think Aegean Blue is a step in the right direction, but it actually is a shade of "royal blue" as far as I can see, which does have purple in it, and quite light. And Cosmic Blue looks like a shade of "navy blue", also towards purple, and quite dark :))

I am happy for you & everyone who loves those two shades (and many do!), but I really don't get why they provide unusual "blend of colours" shades when they haven't even covered the basics.

....obviously that's my bias - will be interesting to see where Civic X forum consensus lies (i.e.
"they're doing a good job with exterior colours", vs "they need to re-think their approach to exterior colours").

They need to rethink it in my opinion....Bigtime.... They need to reinvent paint like they are with everything else. Also for the coupe people are not going to be digging certain colors. Coupe people want extra sporty and Not going to see a ton of cosmic blue and lunar silver si models out there IMO

I'm in the boat of blue fans with purple and other shades of blue in it... With that said, I'll be getting the blue on touring sedan... I had a Fiji blue '06 Si and I loved that color... I'm quite happy with the blues that Honda comes out with... Dyno Blue being the exception of blues I didn't like from Honda...

I agree they need to get a new palette of colors and I believe they tried a bit with at least the burgundy color... That car is gorgeous in person... And I disagree about cosmic blue, that color is REALLY nice in person and would be my second choice for sure... The WOP is also really nice in person... Especially in the sun...

The red, silver, gray, are all boring imo... And black is nice but I miss the days of Nighthawk Black Pearl but I guess the burgundy color took the place of that color now... I just wanted a black with blue Pearl in it again...

For reference, can someone post up the shade of blue they think Honda should've had?

I love having a color of car that is very different. If I were in the market for a coupe, I'd definitely get the green

Agreed, it's just too bad they didn't offer a few bolder color options for the sedan besides Rallye. I mean the colors are nice but very safe. I'm sure they will offer a few on the Si but for a car sold in such high volume I'd like to see a wider spectrum of colors than your standard silver, black, blue, white.

I agree. Honda is always safe with colors, and offers maybe 1 that's a little different in limited numbers
