This one sure looks like 4-door with the handle up behind the window like the HR-V.

Can't wait to see the hatchback. Might not be long... Geneva show next month would be perfect to debut it since it'll be sold in Europe too.

Even if we hadn't seen spy photos of it just knowing it will be offered in the US makes a larger 5 door hatch a better business case for it to sell here. With SUVs and crossovers ruling sales they would be foolish to bring a small hatch to a market where hatchbacks aren't popular to begin with.

How many doors it has may be less important than the shape of the roofline for many hatch buyers.

Exactly on the roofline. Unfortunately if the R spyshots are correct I'm afraid the slope will eat up too much space. Wish they would've just brought the estate over. The estate has just less than 60 cu/ft of cargo space. I could probably get by with that. Thinking the hatch will have 47-52 which will make it too small for me.

But the 10th gen hatch shape isn't as wedge-shaped (not as sloping) as the current one, and the 10th gen sedan is bigger overall with bigger interior, so the hatchback should have more cargo capacity overall.

I'd personally like the old CR-X feature of a second, lower rear window pane below the lip.

The current hatch is about 45 cu/ft with its magic seats. I'll be surprised(..and very happy) if they add 12-15 cu/ft with the roofline still sloped that much. Honda engineers are very good at maximizing interior space so you never know.

4 door. I think people have begun calling hatches 3/5 door over the last few years. But, the hatch is not a typical place of egress/ingress for a person. Therefore, it is called 4 door hatchback. Or, 4 door sedan. 2 door hatch or 2 door coupe.

What qualifies as the last few years for you ? For as long as I can remember (and yeah I may be quite young) we've always called "hatchbacks" 3/5 doors cars to differentiate it from 2/4 door cars who are always coupe/sedans. But again I was born in an european country's colony so maybe it's just an european thing.

What qualifies the term door for the hatch? Because it has hinges? An awkward way into the car? In that case a trunk qualifies too. It's on hinges and you can get in that way.

I've been around cars a long time.I don't get why people don't use logic.
People calling brakes "breaks". Or door panels door "cards".

Let alone those idiots who call windshields a "windscreen" or a trunk a "boot" where the hell did they learn English? A windscreen? What does it filter out the bugs while I enjoy a fresh breeze?

The new sedan managed to gain 2.6 cu/ft of cargo space compared to the old sedan. I don't think 12-15 cu/ft extra over the current hatch is remotely possible.
