These are always interesting threads on other forums.

So... what do you do for a living? I've been a pharmacist for 5 years.

I'm a software engineer. Graduated in May of 2016 and started my job in June. I love my job so far but If i get bored one day i can be in the automobile industry because I loveeee cars (especially Honda)

Plot twist: I'm a 23 yr old female.

Graduated this May with a degree in nuclear engineering, but I work as a physicist for a company that develops and manufactures brachytherapy sources for treating prostate cancer.

I moved to Georgia for the job, from Indiana, so if anyone knows of any fun twisties in the Buford/Gainesville/Alpharetta area, let me know. Always looking for a nice drive.

Wow, that's fascinating, and congratulations on graduating! I'm just starting Chem Engineering myself. Did/do you have any particular job that you're planning to get in Nuclear engineering in the future?

Well before I graduated Lockheed offered me a spot on their compact fusion R&D team, which was pretty much my dream job, but they rescinded the offer a few weeks later citing "restructuring." Some hotshot researcher/professor they were recruiting probably wanted more money so I got screwed.

If I could find something in fusion/plasma physics R&D I might have to take it, but I like what I'm doing now and the people I work with are really great.

Good luck with chem engr, where I went to school I think that was actually the most difficult engineering program to make it into (we had a first year engineerig program, and then each engineering school had separate requirements for getting accepted after the first year).

Sorry to hear they pulled your offer, but at least you like where you are now. Even if it's not your dream job, having people you work with that you actually like is pretty damn valuable. Surely something else will come up again though! And thanks, I think I'll enjoy it. You're right, it is a very difficult program. Nuclear engineering in my area doesn't have many job opportunities it seems. Chemical is a little less "specialized", that's why I chose it.

crazy small world, I work at a tenant company of general atomics in the bottom of sorrento valley (we always flood when it rains a lot ).

I have a background in chemical engineering, but currently occupy myself making drugs, that is to say... biopharmaceuticals  lol
