A friend pointed this out to me yesterday. This is a sign of production haste. The paint is also slightly peeling on the raised portion of the weld. I have several welds worst than this too. One has a crack in it as well.

How is yours, this is the drivers side. Can you post a photo to compare. Thanks!

Thats odd. It definitely seems like they should have ground that down. I have some kind of sealer spread over my wheel well in the trunk. It looks like it was spread over cracks. It definitely seems like they don't take their time to fix something when it goes wrong.

Yours looks a bit cleaner and finished. I have this type of messy weld seams all over my car, it's like the guy that is suppose to finish them was out sick that day... I have one with a sharpe pointy protrution that I filed down an used touch up. Shame they came from the factory like this.

Thank you!!!! For posting this

That is supposed to be there. There's no refining to that type of application. I imagine it bonds those parts together.

I've noticed the seams before but I don't believe I had the hastily-finished blob over top. Its clear a few things were rushed fit and finish wise, as we've all seen.

I guess my question is how this stacks up with the welds on the competition tho.

Look at a Mazda, there like butta. Mine has garbage finish work, like the dude or dudess finisher was floating. Drift..

Very poorly done when I compare it to my other cars. The fact that you can actually see the weld seams (as opposed to the weld locations being hidden behind gaskets or panels) shows the extent of the cost cutting that's going on in a mass produced vehicle.

Then again, I try to put it into perspective in terms of price and value. My Civic EX cost less than half what I paid for my Audi and 1/3 of my BMW so I have stopped comparing the quality of the fit and finish and look at all the features I get from the Civic. When I look at it that way, I often wonder how Honda can provide so much at such a good price and overlook the minor annoyances.

^ big difference in height where the 2 metals are welded too, a good almost 1/4" raise between the top and bottom. And there's some sort of black shit the painted over it which looks worse than something painted by a 3 year old.

Are door frames hand-welded?

I would think it's automated on a mass production car like this, no?

I'm not saying it's excusable, but that's quite a lot of variance for what I assume a robot is doing. Unless the robot was drunk..
