FAT32 and older. Not exFAT, NTFS, or newer is the point. So Fat32 is the only format it recognizes? Do you use a Mac? Also, what does it write to the thumb drive. Is this for update reasons? So,let me get this, It writes to the thumb drive, you then insert to a laptop running Garmin express for updates??? thanks
Garmin code in the car writes some system identification key(s) to the thumbdrive. Then Garmin Express on the PC (laptop or desktop) reads it and validates it. The reason they do this, I posit, is to assure that you are entitled to download the data, which exact version/system they need to download the data for, and what version you are presently running.
