Just wanted to say thanks for the advice and insight on cars to everyone here that posted. I picked up a 2016 4dr black on black Civic EX, with free all weather mats, for 18,591 down from the sticker price of $21,875. OTD: $19,973. No trade-in, non-veteran, no recent grad incentive, and we had our own financing. Talking several dealers down via email really did the trick.
That's an excellent price, probably among the lowest thus far for an ex. Good job and congrats on your new civic. How do you like it thus far? What made you decide on the ex rather than the turbo?

Just having to pay more ($2k I am guessing) dissuaded me. Oh, and almost no one has that car near me, so it worked out. I love the car, it's my 5th civic. I've only driven it a few miles home tonight, but so far, so good. :)

Bluetooth and the nice interface are very fun items in addition to the quality of the car itself.

Thanks again!

Got myself a 2016 EX-L w/o Honda Sensing today for $21700 before TTL (OTD $23800) and I am located in South Calif. The dealer also threw in some "extra packages" such as the 2 years free oil and tires change. However, the guy tried to sell me the 7 years/ 100k miles extended warranty for an extra $2200 and I politely rejected the offer. Can I get this extended warranty cheaper elsewhere ?

did someone has a fair quote for a EXL sale price and Out to door for new jersey area, the best i see as sale price is 22K with destination TTL not included

That's a very decent price if as you say destination is included. I paid 21,700 with destination, and 24,035 OTD.

For people who bought their Civics within the last few months (August/September) are you guys experiencing any issues like some of the buyers who bought much earlier? Have most issues been worked out by now? Looking to buy next week.

Thanks.
On the EX-L I bought Sept. 9th, zero issues. Could not be happier with the car.

I was going through the previous posts last couple of days and got some very helpful tips from this forum and a baseline price to negotiate the OTD. Thanks much to everyone.

I am planning to buy a new 2016 Honda Civic Touring Sedan (preferably Rallye Red). I am in Thousand Oaks area in Southern California.
I reached out to multiple dealers within 300 miles through emails and phone calls have received the following best offers for purchase till now:
Dealer 1: $24000 \ $26200 OTD
Dealer 2: $24150 \ $26400 OTD

The best offers are from Honda Cars of Corona, Hardin Honda, Norm Reeves Honda Cerritos. I told them I am not looking for any add-ons and I have my own financing from my local bank. I don't qualify for any graduate/military rebates though.

Do you think I should be able to negotiate further down, now that the 2017 models are out? Does it make sense to wait till Thanksgiving or end of the year for the prices to drop further? -- I would only do that if that's a significant difference ($700 and up).

Can you please recommend me any particular dealerships and particular salesman (Name, Email, Phone) who should be able to beat this price?

Thanks again.

Just wait for 2017 or order it for $100 more.

I'm waiting until right after Christmas to try to get an EX. That time right before January and right after Thanksgiving I've read are the best . Especially for a 2016 model. After Xmas being the the preferred time.

As a recent Touring (coupe) buyer (see post previous page), I think you are already at a very good deal. Mention your lowest price to any new dealers you approach -- when you get back "Sorry I can't beat that," you'll have some confirmation. Tell you local dealer you'll buy from them if they can match lowest offer you have in the end and build up the good will where you'll have the car serviced. My dealer has a standing offer that if you find within 48 hrs after purchase a lower price from a dealer who has the exact same car you bought, they'll give you 110% of the difference. I couldn't.

If you have a good relationship with your salesman, ask tactfully at signing how important it is that you give them the best evaluation -- mention how nice the all-weather mats (or another lower-cost accessory) are and see what happens. (Worked for me with the trunk tray.) BTW the cloth mats are pretty (on second thought, very) cheap -- nothing like they were in my '96 coupe.

Not sure why dealers would end-year-discount the '16s even more if the '17s are identical as is suspected. If you wait too long you might not get a '16 in the color you want. The model year and the actual calendar year of production don't necessarily coincide. So one day soon they'll dub them '17s and raise the price. I've been watching the local (NC) dealers' Touring stocks, and it seems they sell fairly quickly after arrival. Also, I think that any software updates the do on the '17s can be done on the '16s at your next service.

Hope that helps :)

Hi foks, I just moved to US and kind of overwhelmed by the way car market works here (feel myself like in an arabic bazaar). I want to get simple and reliable car - LX CVT is my choice, what do you think is a good OTD price? (bay area). Sorry if it's a bad tread.

Last month I purchased my 2016 ext sedan from Bommarito Honda in stl. They sell all their new models with 2 years of complimentary maintenance and a 100k powertrain warranty.

$21,200 plus $199 doc fee. This includes destination.
They gave me $17,500 in trade for my 2016 Accord sport 6-speed manual which had 21,000 miles. So I gave a 16 Accord sport 6-speed w 21k miles and $2,899 difference for my
Ext.

At the time of purchase I had a offer of $18,000 trade for another 16 accord sport at $19,800 which was a cvt. I have three herniated disk and my left arm is jelly so the stick caused me issues driving. The cvt sport was the better deal but it would have been my 3rd 2016 accord sport and I really liked the civic.

I tried 3 other dealers prior and they all treated the civic ext as if it was gold. I received a high offer of $18,000 trade and a low of $14,500

This was the best deal I could find in Saint Louis one month ago.

Is the difference between the 2016 and 2017 model of a particular trim just $100?? :hmm:

Yeah, I know, but then you have to compromise on colors or trims. I don't wanna wait too long to just pick up a color I don't like though.

That definitely helps! Thanks..

I took the lowest price to multiple dealers and they said they can't beat it. Even my local dealer isn't ready to beat it even when I mentioned about maintenance at his dealership. So, I guess that's the lowest in SoCal as per current demands in the market. :) But your local dealer definitely has an awesome offer!

You are right, and I don't wanna compromise on colors. I'll take nothing other then Rallye Red, Aegean Blue, Crystal Black for me in this order of preference.

I am still a little confused whether to go for a Coupe or Sedan. I was in favor of a Coupe initially since I had a Coupe as my last car, but unlike other cars, the 2016 Civic Touring Sedan looks very close to the Coupe. Is Coupe priced higher? How much of a price difference would that be?
