Man that looks a lot better than the factory halogens!

How are the headlight bulbs swapped out? Pretty much just reach behind the headlights and twist out?
Yep!! Pretty simple. There is no airbox, battery, or big hose in the way so it made the install easy. The tricky part is finding somewhere to put the ballast. I just laid them away from anything hot or moving for now until I could find somewhere good to mount them.

I'm kind of ignorant about headlight stuff, especially LEDs. What was the controller box for? And where was it located?
its a very small little box. I don't want to sound like a salesmen for vleds but essentially if you go look up a kit, they will have a photo of all the components when you order your headlights (look at the 9006 size for example, lmz platinum). It sits inline between the power feed and the bulb and you can just sit it anywhere. I just have mine laying in the engine bay. you don't need to splice any wires or anything as they have all the proper connections in the kit.

Can you take pictures of the light pattern towards a wall? Would like to see the spread on those projectors.

Sure thing!

Here are pictures at night and color comparisons between the LED's and the 6000k Hid Kit. I'm guessing a 5000k kit may match the LED's. I'll try to take better night pictures when the rain is gone since the rain really distorts the light on the road.

It may all look the same in the picture but the 5000k Hid Kit on my FRS matches the LED's on the Civic more. So maybe if guys want a better match, go for the 5000k Hid Kit. If I could I could I would go with a 5000k bulb next time. They say the 55w ballasts will start to change the color of the bulb after a week or so of use 8000k->7000k, 6000k->5000k etc. so we'll see how that goes.

Do LED headlight bulb kits costs more than HID kits?
I just did a quick eBay search and they are little bit more but not much. Ranging from $40-100+. The bulbs I saw advertised says 60w so I'm not 100% sure on how it'd be with the 55w oem harness.

Nice pictures added. The night time view really helps, they don't look nearly as mismatched color wise as they did in the first pics. And good to know you had the FRS light kit for a comparison to the civic's LED lights. Keep us updated on if the color of the lights change and end up closer to the LED color.

How is the ballast powered if you don't have to tap or splice into wires? Battery?

Same here. Funny thing is, that'll be exactly what they do to "freshen" the face of the 10th gen come time for a mid model update. The past like 3 gens of civics have seen them remove the yellow lens and swap in a yellow bulb on things like turn signals/parking lights for the mid model refresh. haha

I'm sure that's what they'll do haha and charge like $100 for it too! I hate how the amber doesn't go with anything else on the car though, it just looks out of place. I do plan on changing it to a white lens with a white LED bulb though when available. For my FRS when I installed LED turn signals and LED bulbs in the side marker light, they would hyper blink so I'm not sure if the Civic will do the same. There is a fix for it though.

Yeah its sort of hard to get the picture difference of the color but there is a slight blue tint to it. I would like to disable the DRL LED's to turn off when the low beams come on though so hopefully someone does a DIY on that. I know there is a way to disable them all together but they look pretty nice so I don't want to do that either. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on the color and if it changed a little.

Brought home the car last night and wasted no time installing the HID head light bulb and the Yellow Foglight Light bulbs. The HID's are pretty straight forward so this is how I installed the fog light bulbs. Please do this at your own risk. I'd give his a 2 out of 10 on difficulty only because you do need some skill level to reach your hand up into the bumper and un-clip/clip the harness and turn the bulb in and out without looking at it. Use new/clean gloves or carefully try to not touch the bulb with your bare hands

I used Nokia Hyper Yellow 2500k 35w H8 bulbs.

First I took off the screw on the bumper.

There are two push clips and a 10mm bolt holding part of the fender liner to the bumper. Remove them.

The ones to remove are circled in black. The yellow dot shows the finger holes you can use to press down on the liner when reinstalling the liner.

2016-civic-foglights3.jpg

Driver side-The fender liner can be pushed up to reach the fog light bulb. Take the harness off the bulb and carefully turn the bulb and remove it.

Passenger side- I found out that the windshield washer fluid prevented the fender liner to be pushed up so i had to pull the liner down instead which made it easier (I'm sure it can be done on the driver side too)

Reinstall in reverse order. EASY!

Before (all OEM)

After. 6000k HID kit 55w. and yellow bulb fog light bulbs.
