I live in Wisconsin and am interested in the new Civic. I was wondering if any current owners have driven it in the snow yet. How does it do? Do you have snow tires? What kind of snow did you drive through?

My current car is a Focus and the one before that is a Corolla so I'm use to a smaller car. But I'm a bit worried with the lower clearance on the 2016 Civics.

I live in southeastern Wisconsin and drove in heavy snow last weekend with my new Touring. It was very nice, better than my 2014 Accord. I definitely felt some snow slide across the bottom of the car on a few occasions, but it didn't slow me down. I'm not a bit worried about snow, it performed great on the factory tires.

We had a few inches of snow last night turning to heavy slushy snirt and ice on the way to work this morning. I still have the original all season tires on it and had no issues apart from self induced lateral drifting when pushing the limits of the traction control under hard acceleration and ABS testing. I found pulling up on the parking brake switch does a really good job of overriding the ABS and brakes/pulses all four wheels aggressively instead of only the rear wheels as on my older Civic. I can just imagine how much better it will be when I get the studded winter tires installed tomorrow. I have to admit I love winter driving so I might be an exception to the norm.

I put blizzaks ws-80 on the car for winter and they worked great in the snow storm we had last week.

I just got back from getting the studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 tires installed and tried them out on our recently snow packed and icy highways and streets. All I can say is the tires impressed me almost as much as the new Civic did. The cabin is very quiet 'cause I normally hear the studded tires howl loudly, good job Honda. I shouldn't say I'm that surprised because I have run studded Hakka tires since the Hakka 5 came out.

The only thing I regret is not dishing out the extra cash for proper alloy rims. Maybe when the steel rims get rusty I'll upgrade.

Nice to see the Civic can pull 4 season duty easily, and look good doing it :)

Are those the factory 16" steel rims?

Had to give her a nice bath. Steel rims steal a little from the look.

I asked jdewd if he can do this too, but since you have the 17" Touring wheels off now, can you check the backside and see if they are engraved with offset information? Do you also have a scale you could possibly weigh them on? Thanks!

Yes, Honda rims. I bought them at the same time as picking up the car so I got a little discount. I didn't want to take a chance on buying universal rims as they are usually bolt centric instead of hub centric. I heard of studs breaking on older Civics and when the service manager at the tire shop said the same thing I knew I made the right decision. I could have bought after market exact fit alloy rims as they have the hub insert to fit the car exactly, maybe next year.

Sure, anything for a forum member, I'll be right back. Offset info was on one of the tech posts here I'm sure.

Can the parking brake be used momentarily while moving, as to induce a rear wheel slide?
No. It sets fully when you pull the lever, and you have to press the brake to release the ebrake.
