Got it, bring the power up slowly then. thanks for the reply. I should probably get a second ECU to do my tunes on and keep the factory tucked away.
If your engine blows up and there's no record on the ECU of the conditions in that time frame that could look mighty fishy :bat:

Probably true. After ordering the KTuner I've been asking allot of questions through email. What I'm starting to see, is that the factory turbo seems to be a limiting part; but a bolt on is being looked into. Even an aggressive engine tune, with only stock, is still on the safe side. The CVT is from the accord, which adds a nice durability, probably wont handle Type R power though.

What do you mean by the factory turbo being limited? Limited boost increase or none at all due to inefficiency?

Limited boost increase. Not saying it can't be raised at all. I'd take what i say with a grain of salt though. I'm hoping to have the most accurate information possible once I can begin data logging and testing. The limitations may just be from the air restrictions due to the air channels.

I've also heard from a bird in the air that the stock turbo is pretty much maxed out @ 16.5 psi. You won't see Ktuner boosting it over 20 psi.

I was hoping for 18 at least, but oh well. Gotta go big or go moderately quick I guess :D

That's probably right around where it will be, I personally won't boost my ex-t more than 20psi.

Might need to change the thread to "how to void your warranty". Going back to the original topic, I think that pushing 20 psi will probably give your dealership a reason to void your warranty. Or at the very least fight you on the repair. But honda tends to be pretty durable. So you might never run into any issues at 20 psi.

That could be possible considering how small the turbo is.

I'm curious to know:
How much boost can be increased efficiently.
How our factory tune is (is AFR super rich or not? And is timing very conservative and how much delta is allowed stock, etc.)

I'm getting a bung welded to our stock downpipe so I can install a wideband hopefully this weekend. Just not sure where to mount the gauge. I don't want anything on the pillar.

Was wondering does Honda have a turbocharger boost (TCBP) pressure sensor tied into 1.5T engine. I know we have that silly boost gauge that probably uses the MAP, MAF, BARO or other inferred inputs from the PCM. If we do have a TCBP sensor will this cause issue later on and set DTCs for under boost and over boost condition. Once the tuning crowds starts adding intakes, exhaust and programming.

It's all about the tune and the torque

I was just shown a dyno graph in this (http://www.civicx.com/threads/hondata-dyno-testing-of-ex-turbo.2050/page-3) thread indicating the stock tune floats around 11.4-11.6 A/F.

Past experience of modding diesels and there are many stories of the dealer refusing warranty claims. While this did not directly affect me as I was out of warranty, my hp/tourqe increases caused my auto trans to fail prematurely.

I believe in the following statement: THE FACTORY KNOWS BEST

I know the modders and tuners do not want to hear this and will disagree, but the fact if the matter is that the factory has the knowledge, resources and longterm testing and the impact on numerous parts of the drivetrain which tuners, modders and aftermarket companies simply cannot match.

That being said, it is your car, do what you want and take your chances. This is one reason I would not buy a used car, I do not want a vehicle which is modded or has been modded, whether it is put back to stock or not.
