Under Bumper Cover

  • In case anyone was curious what it looks like under the front bumper cover / mask. (Removal was required for OEM Fog Light Kit installation)

I'm surprised they don't have a Styrofoam insert between the metal bumper and the cover like most cars do/did.

It depends on your skill and comfort level. If you choose to , make sure to give yourself plenty of time and take your time doing so. Here are some instructions that will help you get familiar with the process. Front bumper removal starts on page 6 of the following: http://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/civic/2016/4dr/foglights.pdf

@My2016Civic, thanks for posting, this is awesome.

@cfukin How did your fog light kit install go?

Dude. I jus did mine last weekend and it took me almost 4 hours. It was brutal! So much to take apart! My neighbor thought I was installing someting cool like a turbo booster, etc. Nope, just fog lights! I wish I had been able to put it up on a lift and remove the two front wheels, it would have made it easier.
NOTE: Once you remove all the fasteners and bolts, the top edge of the bumper is held by clips. Be careful when pulling it off of these, especially under the headlights as the clips break easily! Use a thin, flat, wide plastic putty knife or spatula under the headlights to release the clips from the bumper. Be careful not to stratch the bumper, use masking tape as stated in the instructions

By the way, the kit will not come with installation instructions, you can view them at the link below. It's about 24 pages of detailed instructions, list of required tools, etc. You will want to review and familiarize yourself with it before you proceed.

Thank you for the information. I have read the Installation guide, it looks like it would take me 1/2 a day. 2 hours was actually really refreshing to me. Cheers!

SethK posted above that it took him 4 hrs, so 1/2 day may hold true. I've done whole car rebuilds/refurbish before as a hobby (high school/college days) including body work, engine rebuilds, etc, so it may be easier for me.

No foam insert? Bare metal under bumper cover? That's odd..

What did you do to your Civic to take your front bumper off?

OEM Fog Light Kit Installation. It requires removal of front bumper and others for harness install along with lots of time and patience.

Here are the 24 pg installation instructions: http://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/civic/2016/4dr/foglights.pdf
