I'm looking for a nice fitting windshield sunshade. After a couple hours in the midday sun, wow! does that shift knob get red hot!

Although it doesn't really help with cooling the interior temp of the car, it seems to be fairly effective in keeping surfaces a bit cooler.

And this is what my hand felt like yesterday

I just use a microfiber towel over the shifter when I get in the car in the afternoon. That SoCal sun bakes that shift knob.

I have an old bandanna that I leave on top of the shift knob when I park. It doesn't do a very good job though. I'm also researching sunshades. Debating between the Covercraft and the WeatherTech at the moment, but I need to do something, it's terrible!

That`s so funny, my 8th gen is exactly the same way, even when its not that hot, the shifter knob gets molten hot, I keep a wrist band in the car just for the shifter

Awesome Indiana Jones insert!

I just grip from the leather sides but I suppose have a bandana would be good.

My wife made a little "hat" for mine on the sewing machine out of a sweat band she found on Amazon. I keep it in the console and throw it on when I leave work in the afternoon. I love the feel of that shift knob otherwise.

Go to your local dealer. They have custom cut shades for the civic. But from my experience so far, if it's over a 100 degrees, a sun shade won't prevent it from getting to burning temperatures.

On another note. My mother knitted me this nice little shift knob cover so I don't burn my hands.

Get a group buy going on these! Would also work for freezing cold days in winter.
