Licence plate light already looks good on the new civic, very pure white, but I'd like to replace it anyway for a more Xenon blue style LED one.
Something different than stock.
(I posted reference pictures, they are not mine...)

I tried, but I cant access it:
From inside the trunk, once the inner shell is removed, the camera computer type of card block it.

It dont seems to be removable from the outside either.
I tried gently with a screwdriver, bit I was afraid to damage the exterior lens.

Does anyone here did this mod ?
Is is even possible ?
If yes, how?

I've done this easily on my '11, very different car!

Thank's !!!

Its integrated in this model and can't be removed. If it goes out, it has to be dealer serviced.

I tinted the lens instead with a light blue material, I'm pretty satisfied with the result !
It was simple, and it make me stand out a little more from the other civic.

Maybe I will test with a lighter blue to give the light a little more luminosity and less blue color...
But the picture make it looks more blue than in real life though.

(Sorry for the snow on the pics, still snowing here :confused1: !)

So when the license plate light goes out, we have to spend 2-300$ to get it replaced. Wow Honda, wow.
It is a LED already, let's hope it will last like it's supposed to ! But I have seen loads of Acura with broken leds in their taillight... SO -_-

P.S. Did you mod your fog lights with led ones?

Hi mate from Quebec !
It is the stock LED. I just tinted in light blue the external lens.
I will redo it with a lighter blue when the weather warms up...:flame:

I have a LX so I don't have fogs, but you could also tint your fog lights with similar results, except they will look blue in daylight too !
Maybe better with real LEDS for this IMO.

Was NewFlyer correct about it being inaccessible? I was curious of the same thing.

Well.. it 'technically' can be removed but what are you gonna do about it? It's not standard wiring where you can shove a T10 bulb in like the old models...

is that what you meant by integrated? So is it hard wired in? Im capable of soldering. Id rather go through the trouble than have a yellow license plate light :D

Well it is LED... just a very neutral colour... so I wouldn't say it's 'yellow'

Why does everyone want to make their license plate stick out like dayglow? If it were my car, I'd be trying to obscure as mush as possible, the dimmer, the better. I think the real trend should be how to barely illuminate the license pate without running into Stasi objection.
