This is a long shot I know. An ex-member, ctrmofo, made kits to allow you to install a deeper 8" subwoofer in the stock location. I want one of these kits BAD!

Any of you have one?

Yeah he is, I messaged him a few days ago about it. No reply sadly =(

I may try again in a few days, it's pretty crucial to my plans for my audio build.

Good luck with that. I ended creating my own.

Yeah figured I’ll end up doing the same. I’m not worried about the ring part but idk about the grill.

Im using the factory grill and a custom made grill spacer. The hole is to release the air pressure.

Any generic 8 inch subwoofer spacer ring will work, I bought mine on Amazon. I had a friend make a new spacer for the grill out of MDF and carpet it. He had a really easy time making it, if only you were local I am sure he could make another. I also added an LED strip behind the grill and it looks pretty good. Using different mesh could accomplish a better look if you want to be able to see the sub more behind the grill.

That looks really good! I’m actually starting to contemplate saying hell with the weight and getting a box from zenclosures, still leaves tons of room in the trunk and can do 2 12’s. My past 3 cars all had 2 12s and I know one 8 won’t do much for me. I’ve never even had a 10” sub lol.

Also, you need to cut that little piece of the mat off under the sub, it’s meant to be cut off BECAUSE of the sub there.

You can fold it or cut it, I just have it folded and it looks just fine. That picture was just after getting it done and the mat was brand new but I appreciate you trying to let me know lol.

This is my humble setup, I think it came out pretty good.
Upgraded the sub to a JL 8W3v3-4, but I had to make a ring spacer (HDPE) for the enclosure and then a rhombus shaped spacer (mdf flocked with an ebay kit) so I could re-use the oem plastic sub cover.
Did this all myself, but it took a bit of time to get everything 'perfect'.
Knowledge of using a router is advised if you want to diy this project.

Your stuff looks good guys. More I think about it the more I know I won't be happy with any single 8" in that position anyway. I sure would like to hear one though.

Any of you guys heading to the wake the dragon meet this year?

I know it's an old post, but maybe you'll still see this.
That looks really sharp, but I'm curious about the fans. Are they just moving air in that space or does it vent somewhere?
