W2 journal bearings have mixed reviews. The w2 ball bearing is the current bench mark. The Vargas turbo literally just released and there’s less than 2 dozen available (why so few, initial test batch???) Time will tell what the real world #’s will be, throttle response, and durability is the real question.Of the options which one is best?
I would say GC/GC+. Yes they’re new to the civic platform but theyre veterans in the BMW/AUDI/VW platform. In other words, they aren’t new to turbos. The fact that they have a turbo that makes power like a W2 and spools like a W1 says a lot. No one else has managed to do it yet. Best of both worlds with great daily driving since you’re not waiting until 4K rpm to even get the turbo to fully spool.Of the options which one is best?
Not throwing shade. I’ve owned 27won products and enjoyed them over others. RV6 has another turbo coming out that’s going to level the field out so that’s another thing to look forward to if you look at how good the dyno graph is once it comes out.W2 ball bearing spools Arguably the same as the stock si turbo. You may be referring to the w2 journal bearing that has some turbo lag, but 4K is the rv6 turbos build threshold not either w2’s and definitely not the bb w2. If we’re gunna throw shade at least label the turbos accordingly.
