Wow, the hood sheet metal is so thin.

If I saw that thing coming at me I'd be more concerned with the "damage" to my driver's seat, if you know what I'm sayin'.
Yeah, luckily I was at home so I don't have to get my car steam-cleaned lol.

Caused a nice 15-car, 3 tractor trailer accident that closed that road all night after the tornado crossed. Fun times.

Long gone are the days when you can get a model to pose on the hood of the car and not get nervous if she would cave it in.

Nowadays, it's pose next to the car - just don't touch it :p
Just make sure the model is light weight lol

Thin hood metal is by no means a new thing. I had a 1979 mustang that I think had a thinner hood that this car.
Exactly.. It's a Civic thing. I've owned a 90 wagon, 95 hatch, 95 coupe, and 3 2000's, they all do it.

@Billy4202 thats crazy! I kind of want to see a tornado before I die lol. Weather interests me a lot lol. Stay safe!

Haha, thanks man. I'm in the same camp - I'm kind of a weather nerd too.

It is unusually flexible in my opinion. I didn't notice it until I took it home, but my hood had several small dents around where the hood latch is which I would imagine occurred during someone closing the hood by simply pressing down on it. Personally I've always been in the habit of lightly dropping my hood from about 6 inches up to close it on every car but I will definitely do that on this one. I had to bring the car back and they had the dents removed to where I can't even tell where they were but even when I wax the car I'm so careful because I've never heard a hood flex quite this much even on cars with much larger and longer hoods.

It’s been a nightmare actually. I’ve been battling with my dealership since I took the car home in December to get the hood repaired. They had one of their paintless dentguys come in and try to repair it and actually made it worse. Now there are holes drilled in my hood and a crease at the front that wasn’t there before and the areas where the hood surface is separated from the frame glue. God only knows how many areas susceptible to rust are there now on the inner hood from the way that he was banging out the dents also. I didn’t see him doing the repairs but I had my car bugged so I know what he did while he was repairing it. Pretty much brought the car to every dent specialist in New York and everyone agreed that the only way to repair this is to replace the hood, this includes a Honda authorized repair center.

I wish I noticed this before taking the car home, but because the car is such a bright color it was very difficult to even notice them until it was in a certain light as soon as I got home and pulled into my garage. I called the dealership immediately but unfortunately by that time I was kind of screwed. They didn’t necessarily disagree that the damage was there before I took it, I even have photos and videos I took of the car before taking at home which, again, I didn’t notice the damage at the time but upon closer inspection you can see the way the light dances around the damage in the videos. I’ve had American Honda involved but unfortunately they won’t do a thing un less it’s warranty related and as things stand now I’m looking at about $3000 almost to replace and repaint and blend the hood which I’ve been trying to get done by them since the car was like that when I got it and the person they hired who did the repairs at the dealership actually made the hood so bad that now it has to be replaced. Tomorrow I’m supposed to meet with the sales manager who sold me the car because he wanted to take a look at it, but I get the feeling I’m going to be left out in the cold here. True dealership negligence is at fault here, but I got to say I have never had a car with the hood this fragile.

When I wash or polish my car, even with light pressure, the hood sounds like one of those flimsy $1.99 disposable aluminum pans. The center of the hood towards the top is incredibly flimsy. I guess that's one of the things you do as a manufacturer for weight savings. :rolleyes1:
