Would you pick AWD or FWD for the Type R?

If both are available, and assuming all else is equal, the AWD version is say 200 lbs heavier and $2k more expensive, which would you guys pick?

I'd probably stick with FWD - I'm not really on the AWD bandwagon unless it's like the Focus RS where it turns it into a drift mobile. If it's typical understeering AWD a la Audi/VW/Subaru I'm ok without it.

I've had fwd cars my whole life, and so far I'm ok with it.

As long as I can mount a decent priced all season/winter tires and get 18 or 19 wheels for CTR, without sacrificing ride quality and performance, I'm good with FWD.

Think I'd wait for 2nd AWD CTR to give Honda enough time to resolve the problems and refine the system better.

Also I don't like to re-do the mods on the same car.

Awd is overrated. Will always stick with front wheel drive, if for no other reason than to piss people off. Fuck the haters :headbang:

I'd go FWD. If I needed to drive up in the snow for some fun in the slopes, I'll take the Forester XT sitting on the driveway lol.

Making an AWD version of the CTR is just to attract those looking for a more "rounded package", in addition to the extra drive, this car possibly will be automatic. Having those two components might make the car more appealing for some, but will separate way too much the car from its roots & feel. It's all about the market & how much they want to sell.

MB has AWD, BMW is making one too.

VW has AWD, Ford has one too

WV, Ford, Audi have AWD, now Honda has the same itchy for..

This was my fear once this car made it to the american market to be honest.

I thought what made the Type R interesting is that was a little different, FWD High revving screamer (apart from the NSX R) that was more about feel, corners and engagement than 0-60 and out and out speed and even comfort to a degree.

I want it to be successful of course and but if it turns into a big super heavy auto AWD then it should be called something else.

If its awd it must be simple. Because awd typically adds extra maintenance.... and extra things that needs to be replaced over time. Fwd is simple.... only change 1 differential fluid... and front left or front axle. Nothing else to maintain.
