My 2020 Civic is being attacked by mice. 1200 miles and on the third trip to be repaired! Only car out of 4 that they seem to like. My understanding is that Honda is using soy-based wiring instead of petroleum based and the rodent love it. Dealer says its my problem no warranty on it. I can't be paying out $300 to $600 a wk to fix this. I have trapped the mice until the traps are empty. I use rodent deterrent spray and peppermint oil spray every night. Just went out to the dashboard lit up like a Xmas tree again. I am going to order a electronic rodent deterrent. Any suggestions?
And is the Harness to speed sensor on transmission an easy replace? Looks like that is the cuisine of choice. First time was the steering harness replaced.

Update - Went to my local mechanic and he fixed it for $175 by just fixing the wire. I'd much rather pay that to a local guy who is struggling during this time than pay my deductible ($250) to the dealership and make an insurance claim.

I recommend getting a cat. Sucks that Honda's being a dick about it

I bought this one. It's the battery operated version of the one posted earlier. It lives on my garage floor under the engine. It's on all the time. I change batteries about every 90 days when it starts chirping. I've seen the furry little marmots outside and inside my garage before. But I never had any damage or signs of infestation. I suppose the battery operated one could be easily installed under the hood without worrying about 12 volts.

Sorry to hear man. I would recommend buying 4-5 of these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Victor-...VB4zICh0JIQhwEAQYASABEgKBG_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

and eliminating the species haha. Last winter I had a few in the house and let’s just say...they’re all swimming with the fishes now. I got rid of them in maybe 2 weeks max. It’s something you have to keep up with and maintain... but they won’t last long with these devices AND will at least opt for the bait like peanut butter, cheese, or whatever else you can think up. I’ve seen so many people have issues with mice and their car over the years and I’m going to make sure I exterminate anything jeopardizing my FK8 lol

I heard this Honda anti Rodent Tape works nicely.. I'd recommend using this on what's already fixed, as well as everywhere else for preventative measures... Just a thought.

I have to repair this kind of damage at least a few times every month. No, it's not covered under warranty as it's not a factory defect, they view it as act of god type failure.

What I have seen that works best so far is the annoying electronic rodent boxes that chirp and make awful high pitched sounds. I have to disconnect them when I work on a car with one, they are really rough on the ears if you are near by, like a dog whistle. After a repair I usually heavily clean the engine bay. Using a heavy degreaser and a power washer I spray down the engine bay. They smell other rodent droppings and rodents smell your car as a hangout spot for other mice. Clean it well and frequent and it should be fine.
