I searched for some input on winter wheels/tires, it wasn't pulling up much of anything on the forum. I was in a hurry so excuse me if there is a thread on the tires/wheels I have. I live in WI, I drive my car year round as it's not a baby. I' just put on the winter set today, that I ordered from TireRack. Seems early but we've actually already hit 45-50 degree weather a couple nights and extended appears lower. (Also just sold 1 on the wheels)
The current OEM tires are also notability firmer at cooler temps. 55-65 degrees is somewhat harsh in the morning, even in comfort. (10 mile commute)
I went with:
18X8 SPARCO PODIO GLS BLACK
235/45R-18 CONTINENTAL VIKINGCONTACT 7 XL
They fit the wheel wells nicely, no issue with brake clearance and I actually like the look of the 18's vs OEM. 235 is smaller than factory but bigger than the 205's on my Focus (225's OEM), I had so they look almost the same as factory to me. The design of the wheel is nice and looks like OEM but more aggressive IMO. I chose these tires as I've had Blizzaks mostly but they seem to lack slush grip. Getting ECU "broken" at Ktuner this week so at least I can throw snow/slush around ?
No issues with any of the tires/wheel when installing. TR always seems to deliver so glad these seem to work out. Will report back when it snows...
