I actually bought the Shin Etsu a while back but my drivers side was too far gone. You're right though, it's great stuff.

My weather stripping is weird. It's not worn like in some of the other pictures but the rear quarter panel windows (it's a coupe) leaks water on the outside whenever I wash my car and I gotta sit there and squeeze the water out of it. Maybe time for a replacement? Not a problem at the moment though, the real issue for me is the steering wheel texture wearing itself pretty quickly lol

Have any of you had luck with the Amazon specials? I can’t find OEM ones. Looks like they’re out of stock wverywhere.

I just purchased the Amazon set linked earlier in this thread. Install was super easy, maybe 5 minutes. They look great and were just less than $50 for the whole set.

I recently got into the Amazon Vine Review Program (about a week ago) and I was looking at what they had available in the program that fit our cars (cheep/free upgrades, as I just have to pay income tax on the value of the products) and came across a set of these from a brand called GOMADEIT, they arrived today, they run about $30 USD, came here looking for tips on the removal and install, thanks to this thread i'm ready to get it done tomorrow and see if they are any good, but at least i'll be rid of this dry rotted OEM garbage.

Also like someone else said, I have NEVER had a car where that piece rotted away in the sun, heck i've got cars that are literally 14 years older then my civic that sat in the same sun and are still perfect, Honda really cheaped out on this part.

I bought Amazon moldings and wasn't happy with the quality. There was a crack in a couple of them, and the color was wrong. The OEM moldings come in a grayish color and black, depending on the color of the car. I ordered the OEM moldings from hondapartsnow.com and very happy. Fixed a friends Civic also. R & R is simple, once you realize the need to depress the clip a few inches in from the B pillar. It sucks that the OEM moldings failed so soon, but at least they are easy to replace, and not overly expensive.
