I was wondering, those of you that have the slammer shift knob for your Si, is it necessary to get a shift boot retainer so the shift boot wont sag? Or will the little chrome piece attached to the shift boot click into place and be flush with the shift knob? I have seen a few members post that is only an issue for the non Si and just wanted to confirm.

The retainer is $10 and install isn’t bad. You do need trim removal tools to get the plastic trim pieces around the shifter. You also can’t use the Acuity boot retainer, unfortunately, won’t fit. You might want to check to see if the Raceseng R-lock would work. I just did the $10 retainer on mine, but the R-lock looks good. I was thinking that was just for cars with the “pull up” reverse lock out, but I think I’ve since seen a Civic with the R-lock. The Slammer is a great piece. Really enjoy it.
