Do you see the answer here because all I see is other rim sizes.
Honda Civic 10th gen Widest Tire on Stock Rim? search

It wouldn't be a car forum without at least one unhelpful moron. Packup your forester and gtfo if you dont have any useful information to share.

Some folks switch to a 255, but no wider I believe. I can’t find any info on whether it negatively affects handling. Perhaps slightly slower turn in?

And it would be Facebook if all we had was people who couldn’t spend anytime researching a basic question and instead expect to be spoon fed the answer to the same 5 questions every week.

TireSize.com does give recommended rim widths if you type in a tire size if you look at alternative sizes. It lists 8-9” for 245/30/20 while 255/30/20 lists 8.5-9.5”. 265/30/20 lists 9-10” for its sizing. Stock rim is 8.5” in width, so I probably wouldn’t go higher than 255.

Varies based on tire manufacturer. Every manufacturer recommends the proper rim widths for their specific tire.

Thanks for you help. 255 30zr20 pilots 4s looks like a decent choice. I have read some comments about 35 sidewall making turnins more disconnected.

245 35 20 is a good balance people have reported using that size while feeling very little difference.

Honda Civic 10th gen Widest Tire on Stock Rim? EE71E75D-9C1E-4AA7-8338-2052E3EE99EF

I’m using that exact size and tire brand. Even at 30 sidewall I can feel a slower turn in compared to the stock tire size. This feeling amplifies itself during daily driving when you do a lot of light and moderate turning going place to place. A 255 width would probably be better traction for race track situations but kinda overkill for daily driving. I drive this car everyday to everywhere so I’m just speaking from my personal experience. I still have like an inch of the outer portion of the tire barely being used. I can see it driving through dirt and 90% of the tire has dirt on them and outer 10% is clean. I can’t imagine how sloppy turn ins would be upping the sidewall to 35 or higher. I am going back to the stock size after this set wears out.

255/35 - I wouldn't go any further in width terms; Even if you could make them squeeze onto the wheel it's rather dodgy.

Re. The turn in etc, I'd suggest it's more a product of the tyre change than the sidewall - The PS4 / Most tyres are much softer than the Conti's in terms of sidewall; Stick to Japanese Mfgs. or CSC6's if you want stiff sidewalls (Bridgestones, Yoko's usually are very stiff) and you'll keep any disconnection to a minimum.

I've had extremely good experience with 255/35, and I'd reccomend it by far for road use. Any slight loss in directness is more than offset by the increased ability to carry pace over poor surfaces and slight bump in comfort.

Bridgestones and Yoko's are shit in Snowy weather. Michelin is the best! that is if you care about all season tires
