I’m running 18x9.5 +38 wheel
With the stock 235/40/18 Tire
And lowered on D2 springs
I work at Discount tire and 235 is the lowest you can go SAFETLY on a 9.5 wide wheel without causing debeading scenarios.

Who is getting that mileage(naturally, without trying)?

I have a stock touring 1.5t and I get 28.3 mpg and I don't beat on it.
It's a combination of where and how you drive. I get anywhere from 33 MPG when I beat on it on the back highways here to 42+ traveling on the freeway at 70+mph

And that's with Pilot Sport A/S 3+. I didn't notice any significant impact to fuel economy from the OEM eagle sports.

That’s true especially if you retained the stock tire specs. Once you go wider, fuel mileage will go down a bit. Highest I can go so far with a 245/40/18 tire is 35 mpg.

Similar but related question:

I love the Avid1 SL.02, but the smallest width is 8.5". My current tires are 8.0". Is it possible to pair different widths?
