Wider tires, slower?

It might just be in my head but it feels like my car got slower with her new shoes. Switched from the Continentals to Yoko avid ascend gts 235 45 r17. It's definitely quieter and smoother like I expected but feels like it has less gusto when you lean on the throttle.

The wider the tire, the more rolling resistance. The more sticky a tire (softer compound) the more rolling resistance. More rolling resistance= car slower. I noticed going from 235/40/18 stock all seasons to 245/40/18 pilots. Although my 8 lb weight loss per wheel helped balance it out.

I wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference but guess so. Even if it's only 4lbs each

It's not just the width, it's the extra weight of a bigger tire that can bog things down slightly. Unsprung weight matters.

I'm return these yokohama avid ascend and get some extreme contacts, original contact txs were either 20 or 21 lbs, yokos were 25 lbs, these are 22 lbs.

Changed out to Continental dws 06s. Stiffer tire but closer to factory weight. Gonna change the rims later to something at least 7lbs lighter
