See #87. If you put in higher octane, then the timing should be advanced further, so better performance.

It's be interesting if a tuner who's seen the factory ignition maps could chime in. I assume that the sport cars have an extra 1 or 2 across some or all of the ignition basemap. K.control would add retard as necessary if 87 was used... and could add well more retard value than those 1-2 ignition added on the base would do.

Or (and this is a WAG) the sport which has different exhaust than the non-sport and has 6 HP and 15 ft-lb of torque advantage has really no difference from their maps. The difference comes from the exhaust slightly and the use of the recommended higehr octane fuel. On the flip side, if you used higher octane fuel a non sport might approach near the sport levels of power, with a minor deficit from the different exhaust.

Just a guess. I've seen reviews of the cars online and the published numbers... but I've never seen anyone say they've analysed the stock maps to see if there are differences in the ignition base maps between the sport and non-sport.

I know I read into how K.control works awful hard before I fooled with my it in timing to make sure I wasn't going to introduce any amount of timing it couldn't pull back with K.control. It's very forgiving in how it works.

I use 93 and 99% of the time I am at .49

When I went down for a road trip and filled with 92, (no choice) it went to .51 for about 10 min then back down to .49

I think K. control.

I think it went from .51 to .49 is because the ECU will adjust timings and such with the lower octance fuel. just my theory though.

I fill up 93 cause the mobil near me has 87, 89 and jumps to 93. I drive 19.5/21 ktuned 2018 si

I use 93 all the time. Even more so now that I have the stage 1K tuned. Before I hand tune I would use 93 octane. The owners manual says 91 or higher. Your car will benefit from using 93 octane . 93 octane reduces knock. For me the extra $.10 per gallon is worth it, in the end it’s an extra $1.20 I like the comfort of knowing that there will be less knock in the engine. This is especially true since I have the stage one tune.

I have used only (until a couple of days ago) Mobil 93 in my stock '17 Si and I recently stopped at a Shell station on my way to a meeting because I had to gas up. They wanted as much for 91 as Mobil does for 93 so I tried a tank of 91. The engine runs fine (smooth acceleration, no knocking) but it doesn't have the quick pulls that it did using 93. I noticed it right away, and it still fails to make me smile the way it used to. I will be switching back to 93 to see if it was all in my head, although I may fill up with 93 when it is at half empty to see if 92 is noticeably different than the 91. I am guessing it won't be. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried using higher ethanol levels as per http://blog.vittuned.com/making-power-on-the-civic-x-full-disclosure/

check your knock control, not your knock count while you are running that Shell 91. Lots of people have said the shell 91 gives them higher knock control values bc its not as good as other 91 or 93

Been using crapogas 87 octane from a no name gas station in Canada for the last 48k kms on the 1.5L touring, for which premium is not prescribed, and it still gets the same great MPG as it got in its first 5k kms.

I bet your injectors and valves look great using crapogas
