White Residue on Valve Cover

Hello, I have a stock 2019 Si with 15k miles. I found this white residue on my valve cover this week. I cleaned it off yesterday and found that the residue came back after driving it to and from work (20miles total). Not sure if it’s coolant or something else. Any ideas? Just got my valve cover gasket replaced last week as oil was leaking through.

i cant be sure; but this makes me think of plastics (also, are the hoses also covered in white?) that have been cleaned with something that messed up the finish to them. I wonder if when the oil leak was fixed, if they used some type of of cleaner that messed up the plastics.

Sort of like when black plastics bake in the sun for years. I wonder if a little bit of oil on a rag would bring the finish back? Just test in a small spot and not so much oil you are catching your engine on fire!

Perhaps others can chime in.

They probably sprayed the engine bay before doing the job, and the residue is the chemical they used.

I would do a nice engine bay wash down. Use an decent all purpose cleaner and a brush. Then spry it down with something like Aerospace 303.

i guess it's some kind of chemical residue after they cleaned it. Try nufinsh or gunk cleaning wipes and see if the plastic comes back to black color
