Had stock then switched to OEM leather. Liked it but didn’t love it. Now using Skunk2 weighted shift knob from old s2k and love it.

I know I'm two years late, but this looks sick! I'm totally ordering a sti knob lol.

*edit: wait, hold up... how were you able to install it? the thread patterns are different?
Yes, the thread patterns are different.
It works with 12X1.25 od 10x1.5id thread reducer.

I got mine from amazon but it looks like the listing's gone now.
Anything with the same spec should work tho.

I might go for S209 knob just for fun lol

I have to share an awesome story, about GREAT customer service....

I have a medical condition that causes me to have a lot of sensitivity to cold/hot temperatures in my hands, so needless to say the stock metal shifter was hurting my hand. I called Honda Corporate and explained to them that the Type R rocks ass, but the shift knob sucks ass. Asked them if they would maybe help out with a reasonable accommodation….

I now have the OEM-Honda Red leather wrapped shifter at no cost! The dealership also installed it for free!! Super happy that Honda helped me out - I was hoping for just a discount coupon, or figured like most companies in 2020 they just wouldn't give a shit. Have to say, it made me even happier to own my R.

PS - I really like the leather wrapped shifter, it sits a little taller, but I like that!

The knob is countersunk, so makes it sit low, despite it being taller. Thinking about modding it inserting a threaded brass bushing
Oooohhhh! Nice! Did you get it from JDM parts?
I'm toying with the idea of getting one.....I currently have a fake Fatboy knob that I'm debating getting powder coated a nice red to match the interior, or maybe a Pearl Grey to match my exterior, not sure now. Physically it feels identical but it's not the real thing...
My Fatboy imitation came from my 370Z, where it lived a long happy life, and was summarily removed upon trade-in for my CTR.
I just want the TK knob because I want one. Although I'd keep it covered up unless I was driving it due to its value.

Hi Fountainhead,
Yes it did come from JDM Parts. Shift knob is amazing. There are so many color combinations and finishes to choose from. The shape contours to the hand perfectly. Downside is TK shift knobs are abit pricey. A friend machined a threaded brass insert so the knob is no longer countersunk and has additional weight. Have compensated by setting the Acuity Shifter to its lowest height setting.

Brass threaded bushing press fit in.

Flipped the shift boot upside down so it’s more visible. This the Titan Baby. Brushed finish on top like the Heavy Baby. Reverse burn titanium finish on the neck. A bit more subtle than some of the other colors or finishes available from JDM Parts.

Fits well, any grip.

Pretty sure the TK knobs are really popular with the Nissan crowd. If you pick up a Heavy Baby or Titan Baby, that will make (2) Type R’s ;)
