Are you sticking with Stock @ 0W-20 or changing things up like me with 0W-30 Amsoil Signature Series.

This is just a poll to see what CivicX are using.

Our two colleagues don't realize that everywhere outside USA 0w-20 is not the only oil allowed by Honda. Oh well...

Ohhh interesting. Thanks for the input! I wonder now about that post in another topic saying Pennzoil Ultra (or something) was better than Mobile 1 Extended Performance. Hmmm... Got me thinking now.

Im going 0-30 since I saw that Honda page @un hombre posted.
Remember it is a spec for outside USA and Europe. If I was living in USA I would probably not go for 0w-30 but highest spec 0w-20 I could find, but that's just me.

Anyway, today my dealer put Amsoil 0w-30 in the engine and I have to say, that I had second thoughts until the very last moment.
I read too much about oils and supposed designs for lower viscosity oils...
I was thinking about just using the original 0w-20 that Honda uses in all engines in Europe, including civic type r, but I decided to be the guinea pig as the viscosity I am using is one of two alternative that Honda mentions in the manual.

I will write my findings after weekend in a separate three or update the Amsoil thread of yours.

I'll be running 0w20 because it gets damn cold here and I don't want to have to keep track of which oil I have in the car at what time.

Pennzoil Ultra 0w-20 is an unicorn oil. I only see them available online.

Actually I stand corrected, I would use other grade oil in USA provided it would not mean being out of warranty and only under certain conditions. We know Honda allows for other viscosities outside USA so it means engine will be fine at least with 0/5w-30 - because those are specifically mentioned in European manual, as alternatives.

Anyway, I will let everyone know if it is worth it or not.

I strongly recommend nobody using anything but the 0W oils, 5W-30 worries me on the cold start. Very tight tolerences in these new engines guys. Stick with 0-20 & 0-30 IMO.
