I get one mile per gallon.
Then I get another mile - same gallon.
This keeps going until I have almost 27 miles on said gallon. 26.8 per the gauge.

Combined city/highway. And combined -ahem- driving styles. Not bad for a Type R.

I do miss the gas mileage on the SI, which was solidly in the mid-30's combined,
On one run of about 15 miles, I even hit high 40's, almost 50 mpg in that SI. Best ever in the Type R - about 33-34 on that same route.

So bottom line, Type R mileage is great for a focused performance car. But just so-so for a Honda.
But if you look at alternatives, nothing really does any better with an ICE setup and a manual.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that.

Hatchback sport currently in winter, 33-35 mpg. In summer high 30's to low 40's. Not much traffic or city driving for me for me luckily. Not much highway either. I'm at around 17K with a CVT

I hover between 39-42 mpg, driving mostly country roads between 40-55mph and minimal town or highway driving. On the highways here, most have a limit of 70 mph, I drive about 80 mph and get 37-38 mpg on average.
In civilized world numbers(sorry USA, I only mean it as a joke btw) I average 5.6-6L/100km on my normal backroad trips and about 5.6-6.2 on highway doing 115 or 125km/h depending on speed limit. I found there is a big difference between 115 and 125 in terms of fuel efficiency. It may be higher than 6.2 sometimes depending on the wind and weather, I've seen a trip be around 7L/100 as I had head winds most of the way.

I don't normally drive aggressively but I do some spirited driving in the summer and my average doesn't change that much since I have very little chance of passing cars or stop lights.

I tend to get around the mid 20s, maybe close to 27mpg city/highway. I have a 4000ft elevation change between my house and job, and going home takes a lot of gas. The car is a 2020 Sport sedan with 6MT.

That seems way too low.
Any idea why?
Hate to see you get a solid 25 % or so below what you should be getting.

In winter I generally get 32-ish mpgs. My commute is only 9+ miles each way so a good portion of the drive the engine is still warming up. 60% highway, 40% city stop and go. In warmer weather I'll see 3-4 mpgs more. Winter gas sucks.

1.5T Non-Si / Phearable 1.5R tune.

330whp, all city driving, heavy foot. Fuel economy doesn’t worry me.
Now that makes sense. Especially with that much power to the wheels.
Glad to hear you are getting maximum smiles per gallon, which is actually way more important.

I usually average 42 mpg on a tank when I'm solely commuting to work, which is 15 miles straight down the highway at 55 mph.

Mix in city driving and I average 38 mpg.

I do 2,000-mile cross-country trips once a month with cruise set to 85 mph and get around 35 mpg.

20' Hatch Sport 1.5T bone stock, last I checked the other day. I was averaging ~35mpg, which I am beyond grateful for. My other current cars and previous ones all varied between ~19-25mpg. When I had the 16' 2.0 n/a, I was averaging ~35mpg. Thank God these modern Honda's are gas efficient.
