Immediately before my 2018 hatchback was a 2003 sedan which was a hand me down. We only had one car at the time, I was talking to my dad and he said his sister (my aunt) had given him the 2003 because the dealer low balled her on the trade. She was getting a new Civic. Only thing it cost me was shipping from CA to FL and plates which came out to about $1,100. Got the windows tinted, installed an iPod/auxiliary adapter and drove it for more than 3 years. We were moving and I had already bought my 2018 when the car overheated and I decided it wasn't worth fixing or moving cross country. Sold it locally for $350 and guy came with a flatbed and took her away.

After having the Civic for more than a month, I think I'm late to the party. Before my '19 Sport sedan, I had a '17 Ford Focus S (S meaning stripped). Despite the DCT's usual grumbles (rough shifts which were mitigated after enabling "sport" mode), it was okay. I planned to run the car for a long time (thinking that the transmission might go first), but a rear end shunt by a delivery van totaled it after 28k miles.

I did a few things to it to help remove its base-base status:
  • retrofit OEM cruise control by swapping steering wheels end enabling it through Forscan
  • swapped the center console from an SE to have an arm rest
  • LED bulbs in the tail lights
  • VG Sharkfin antenna
  • Trunk lid trim to hide the exposed metal
I know it doesn't constitute as a build, but it did make me appreciate the car more. There are a few things I missed from the Focus:
  • Trunk opens immediately after hitting the button on the fob (mind you, there was a gas strut attached to the goose neck hunge to help it open)
  • Integrated blind-spot mirrors
  • manual hand-brake
I definitely don't miss the questionable cost cutting (i.e. lack of cruise control, power front windows only, etc) I just wish the market wasn't crazy when I bought my Civic.

My grandma just died, so we were going through all our old pictures. I came across a cool pic I took back in the 90's of my favorite old car. FIgured I should post it here. She's a beaut. 😍 I miss her.

I wanted a GT, but I could only afford an SE back then. I've owned 32 cars so far and that '95 Probe was one of my favorites. All I have to remember it by are this crappy photo and a scan of the window sticker.

Brand new, Crystal Black Pearl. Was 23k OTD w/my trade in. (2000 Honda Prelude 5MT). The Z was mostly stock when I traded it in for the Si. It was Lowered/wheels/tires/intake/leather seats installed. My first new car.

I always wanted an Si. It just never happened in the past. Timing, budget, availability. Now that I do have it, it's still hard to believe.

Great pic, and very interesting Monroney sticker. I don't remember SE's being that expensive. I didn't pay too much more $ for my GT. If the SE was one of your faves, I have little doubt the GT would've been your all-time fave. What a great car. Here's a few more for old times sake.

I have a 21 Sport Hatch, my previous car was given to me to use for work and personal errands given I paid for gas. It was a 2017 Chevy Malibu

Lowered 3” in the front 4” in the rear. 5 speed manual with muffler delete pointing straight down in the middle of the truck.
