Behold!
After 393 days, (two days short of thirteen months) the endangered Aero Spec Racing Red-throat Hooded Scoopy shows itself.

I've never waited this long for a part before and won’t again.

Many thanks to Whoskyle for setting the hen on the egg until hatched.

I’ll install tomorrow as long Auto-X day ending with a complete ‘warsh’. ?

Installed ASR hood scoop.

Alignment is tight with 7 studs vs OEM 5 and 2 clips, subtle red inside.

Great craftsmanship!

If you have $393 and a year to wait, go ASR, otherwise don’t.

So my buddy Steve (2019 Corvette) shared the uncut raw video of our recent track day at Big Willow. Believe this video to be far superior to the previous one I shared. If like this kind of stuff, suggest viewing full screen and with volume up.

In this can see both the driver view as well as what is going on behind the car.

Which makes me look better, because after Steve blows by in his 650HP Corvette, can see me in the rear view, keeping within a reasonable distance the rest of the way.

Not bad for a car pushing 340-350HP or so. Driver mod improving slightly ;)

Steve makes a good save at the beginning when his tires were cold and the car almost got away from him. Mario's NSX goes off track with (2) wheels at the end of turn 2 and makes a good save, never missing a beat. Had a similar experience in the same spot last year, except I fishtailed a couple times after getting back on asphalt.

Our best times that session:

Steve - 2019 Corvette - 650 HP 1:23.9
Mario - 2017 Acura NSX - 700 HP 1:23.9
Me - 2018 CTR - 340-350 HP 1:24.5 (PB)
Must be nice to be able to drive with both hands on the wheel... ?

I probably should have moved the OEM gasket over too.

This saga is why I often pay for mechanical installs, I’m an electronics geek, read as no grasp of the obvious sometimes, not proud but confessing helps:

Old scoop easy to remove, taped hood in case it popped out. Then test fit scoop right out of the box, tricky as front has to get started first, then straight in. While in place it wasn’t flush but was even, wasn’t sure why.

Removed scoop, applied gasket RTV goop, waited 10 minutes to cure, reinstalled.

Couldn’t find expected bag of hardware in box to secure it. The 5 OEM studs are metric, ASR 7 studs SAE, panick ensued

Removed scoop to take to store for hardware selection, removed gasket goop as it’d be fully cured before install.

Then inspected bottom of scoop, well I’m a dumb-a** for sure. The washers and nuts were pre-installed on each stud. That’s why it didn’t sit flush, ya’ think?

Re-applied RTV gasket material, called myself names for the 10 minute cure.

Reinstall was still really tight fit, went with SAE low end torque of 5 ft-lbs. No problem once evenly drawn in flush.
:dunno:

Installed a Downforce Solutions rear diffuser, got for a nice bargain from a fellow Boost Blue owner on IG. Really goes well with the wang. Next up, some black w/ red lettering mud flaps once they show up tomorrow! Should tie really well with the red on the rear.

Oh and got my hilarious custom plates in, been getting lots of laughs :thumbsup: Soon I'll get an MP3 horn with a few sound bites to go along with it.
