Glad to see it finally in your hands, Marcus! Apologies it took long, it seems that customs held back a bunch of the shift knobs we sent out on the same date to various US-based customers. This arrived today. Looks really good, the way wood shimmers and color shifts in light is gorgeous. I do wish it utilized a “redder” wood (maybe something like bloodwood) to better match the interior.
Very light shift knob (they claim 60g). On the 2017+ shifter and shorter retaining nut it sits extremely low. Very mechanical and absurdly notchy feeling shift knob. Probably not a good choice for aftermarket shifters though.
Anyways, yes with the aluminum threaded insert the shift knob weighs in at 60g. Stepping down from the 135g Mishimoto weighted CF knob that we also carry, it was definitely quite a drastic change in how notchy this one feels, and personally all for the better since I for one love a mechanical-feeling shifter. Everyone loves the look, some have been requested a weighted option as well so Frank is looking at a stainless steel threaded insert that will bring up weight to around 140g.
As you can see from the below batch (yours is in the mix), each one slightly varies and as you rotate it around the shimmer and color shift is stunning!
I have mine paired with the Acuity Shifter, and wouldn't have it any other way Shift Rod height can be set to 5 for pretty easy rowing, and then 1 if you really want it to be super notchy and involve effort. My preference is between 3-4.
On any stock shifter a lightweight knob would be a welcomed change for sure to get more feeling out of the shifting experience.
Lighting isn't the best in this picture, it should be a tad darker but here's how it looks in my Si. I see your point about using Bloodwood, or something darker to match the darker interior. That can certainly be up for discussion
