On my old 6th gen civic i always used Mobil one super 2000 10w40 which was always a great semi synthetic oil.
Now for the 10th gen my warranty is over and i want to do my oil changes on my own again.
The honda 0w20 oil is ridicously expensive so i rather use good brand name that is easy to get by and not that expensive.

Looking at mobil one now it has the Mobil super 3000 0w20 or the Mobil one 0w20 oil .The super 3000 seems to be the better performing oil .

I also looked into castrol because its also not that expensive and a great overal brand.
There my choice would be the castrol edge or maybe the castrol edge supercar .
What do most people use here in europe ?What brand ? what oil quality?

Also these oils are all full synthetic ( or they are described that way ) is the honda 0w20 oil also full synthetic?

For my K20A2 EP3, I run Mobil 1 10W-40.

For my K20Z4 FN2, I run Castrol Edge 5W-40.

For the L15BY CR-V, I run Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30.

For the L15BA FK7, I run the Honda 0W-20 v2.0 which I believe is full sythetic (and also used by Honda in the K20C2 FK8. It is also stated on the OEM bottle). I do believe however that in hot climates (Southern Europe or Lower USA states), 5W-30(which is allowed in the owner's manual) is better.

The manual states that EUROPEAN AND UKRAINIAN( :headbang:) vehicles are eqquiped with a petrol partical filter, therefore need ACEA C2/C3 spec oil.
NON-EU vehicles WITHOUT a petrol partical filter, need ACEA A5/B5 (Honda oil 0W-20 v1.0). Fun fact: The hybrid CRV uses ACEA A5/B5, so most likely it does not have a partical filter.

Mobil 1 Super 3000 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, only API SN/SM. So I do not know if it will do for the L15 engine.
Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, ACEA C2/C3 and API SN/SM
Castrol Edge 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, only ACEA C3.
AMSoil European 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, ACEA C2/C3 and API SN/SM
AMSoil Signature Series 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, ACEA A5/B5 and API SN/SM
ENEOS HYPER 5W-30 is Full Synthetic, ACEA C3 and API SN. I do not know if that meets our requirements.
ENEOS Sustina 5W-30 is
Shell Helix Ultra DOES NOT MEET the Honda specifications(makes sense that shitty Fiats and Ferraris use Shell :p ).

So, in theory, we should use Mobil 1 ESP or AMSoil European. Personally, I am all for Mobil 1 as they are partners with Honda in F1 and I prefer to pay them:beer:. Mobil 1 belongs to Exxonmobil, an american based company.

EDIT:
an ACEA C2 engine oil will provide better fuel economy that an ACEA C3 engine oil, but may not provide the same protection levels due to the lower film strength. The C3 is better suited to engines with higher performance (8%) ash content. The API SN category is an improvement over the API SM category.

So, ENEOS has the ENEOS X HYPER-X and the ENEOS HYPER. The X-HYPER-X is branded as API SN ACEA C2/C3 but their website does not clearly state if it is both for diesel and petrol. The Hyper is clearly stated for both engine types but is is only ACEA C3 API SN.

Thanks ,that made sence. The partical filter is the oem catalic converter afaik there's no other filters being used in the exhaust sytem that i know of.And even if your using a downpipe it really doesn't mather cause its only to meet a european emission standards.I think you can use both the C2/C3 as the A5/B5 .
My Manual states that the european 1.5T models need to use ACEA A3/B3 or ACEA A5/B5 oil .
This is for the European Sedan with L15BB engine.
So i'm not sure what to use yet ...

The L15BY and the L15BA state ACEA C2/C3. It is weird that the L15BB states ACEA A5/B5

Yeah it's weird .All models even the 1.6 diesel requires this oil on the sedan.

I have not decided if I will go for Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 every 5000km or keep the OEM oil and change it on May and then again in August regardless of how many kms I did. And during winter, every 5000km.

I can tell you 100% that the engine gets warm MUCH FASTER in winter with the OEM oil, which is thin. With the 5W-30 in winter, it took at least 15 minutes of proper driving (70-100km/h) for the engine to warm up. With the oem 0-20, it doesnt even take 7 minutes., at city speed limits.

I know honda states the 0w20 oil is for fuel economy purposes. So a 0w30 might also be perfectly fine .
The european fk8 also has ACEA B3/A3 or ACEA B5/A5 oil 0w20 or 0w30/5w30.

I just found out there a Castrol specific honda oil which is "Castrol Edge Profesional H" 0w20 and 5w30 .So if that's good available that might be a good solution.

I haven't seen that,it only said that it can be used in gasoline and diesel engines .
Availabilty is however very poor.
Honda developed the new 0w20 oil for the fk2turbo in coorporation with castrol.
So most likely the honda 0w20 oil is made by castrol.
I'm sure i don't need 5w30 so its either going to be 0w20 or 0w30 castrol edge or mobil one .

Well after long searching i came up with these oils that are a ACEA A5/B5 spec oil :
- Castrol Edge A5/B5 0w30
- Mobil 1 ESP LV 0w30
- Mobil Super 3000 Formula VC 0w30

Unfortunately i couldn't find any 0w20 oils that have a ACEA A5/B5 spec ( with castrol or mobil 1).
At the moment i'm thinking of the super 3000 formula VC 0w30 ,but since this is a volvo spec oil i'm hesitant to use it on a honda.Even though its a ACEA A5/B5 Spec oil.
I also looked into other brands ,shell helix , total Quartz ,Eneos , amsoil but i could not find many reviews of it or the availability is really bad.Motul 300v seems also like a very good oil but is almost as expensive as oem honda oil.

Well i've made the choice to go with Mobil 1 ESP LV 0w30 because it has the A5/B5 approval and according to Mobil 1 the Mobil 1 oil is a higher quality then the Mobil Super 3000.

Now i'm looking into finding a Good oil filter since the oem honda filters now are junk.
They used to be good when they where made by Toyo Roki or Filtech .Now they are made by many different fabricators , Mahle/Tennex , Fram , Purflux...
I've looked into several filters cut open on youtube and ordered several filters myself to cut open and see if they are made well. Will update here when i got them.

@Hondanickx
I use currently the Shell Helix HX8 5W-30 oil.

Before that I had TotalEnergies Quartz INEO MC3 5W-30 low SAP.

Most Honda dealerships in Germany don't care about the A5/B5 approval.

So I guess it doesn't matter at all what oil you're using on your 1.5 as long as it's a 0W-20, 0W-30 or 5W-30.

Weird because the aproval is also in function of the particle filter or so I thought?
My model doesn't have that and most fk8's also. Those who do have a C aproval .
