Tried searching the forum for a similar thread so apologize if this has been discussed already but what are your complaints, big or small, about the type R?

  • Standard exhaust sound
  • Not enough difference between sport and r mode for me, while comfort steering feels disconnected
  • Alcantara around the door pulls, always gonna get manky
  • Head unit is a bit 90's graphics
That's it really for me. Not much!

I'd be struggling to come up with one - honestly - the car blows me away. Other cars in my stable in my signature - and I would choose the Type R over any of them if I had to choose just one vehicle.

It does everything well even boring things.

Ok - could use a bit more power in the speakers - but that's it. And even that it seems to depend on what the song is which is odd. It's not horrible it just could be better - but I'd rather the money spent elsewhere and I can change speakers if it becomes necessary - but other than that - nothing.

My complaint is I don't drive it enough...

Seriously, as a toy I have no complaints well except for the squeaky brake pads which is easily fixed.

All can be easily remedied by aftermarket products. After that, it’s hard not to love.

Exhaust too quiet - get any louder exhaust
Heat soak in the summer - get a larger intercooler
Notchy and sloppy shifter - upgrade the shifter bushings or replace entire shifter
Thin tires - get 35 or 40-profile tires in 18”, 19”, or 20” depending on wheel size

Coming from a 2013 WRX and a 2013 GTI this car is amazing. I got mine a week ago and it blows me away in every aspect. The touchscreen is great for me... I’m not a tech expert but the Apple CarPlay seems quick and good resolution for me. The power is good at any rpm and the transmission doesn’t feel like a putting a pool stick in a bucket of marbles (looking at you WRX). What amazes me most is that the R can be an absolute monster on backroads but yet crawl along in traffic completely unfazed.

-Small gas tank
-No sunglass holder
-Headunit graphics
-Alcantara side bolster
-overheating issue if you really track the car
-speakers
-cheaped out in the back seats/area
-Cheap paint
-Air Con could be better
-no oil temp, oil pressure, etc for a track focused car

I do love the car and it is fantastic really had to think of these 10.

The wheels are too big, tires are too small

The stock speakers could be a lot better

Road noise (pebble noise) really is bothersome
