I love meaty tires!!! With that said looks like Honda finally built a car that can handle that. With the right offset and size looks like 265 and 275 already been done. I’m pretty sure with like maybe a 40-45 offset or so and like 9.5-10 wide rims we might be able to stuff 285s or maybe even 295s tires up in the front haha but the rear seems to be a little bit more limited. What’s your thoughts???

285's fit on the 8.5" rim and has been done already, no rubbing.

I would like to see pics haha. I think 285 is too wide to be put on an 8.5 wide rim tho it is not recommended will be too much side wall flex and bulging out I think is gonna kill some handling on quick corners making it feel mushy. Maybe I might keep the stock wheels and go with 265/30 tires next then that will add a lil more tire also

Some tires are wider and some are narrower than the spec. Keep that in mind. For example: I have here the Mich Pilot sport cup+, size 245/35R19. They are actually 275 wide when I measure it. Stock 245 tires are only 225 wide.

Side wall flex? Bulging? I don't think you fully understand how things work and I'm sorry that you don't believe me but please yourself, I have no interest in arguing the point. It has been done and very, very successfully I might add. Perhaps the results from a certain autocross event out East yesterday might explain it better.

not an argue or debate. Can it be done? Yes but is it recommended for optimum performance for what the tire is built for? No. I think 285 is too wide for a 8.5 wide rim

285 on 8.5 wide rim is only for autocross street class. If you don't autocross, then you can go wider in rim. 285 has a rim width range of 9.5-11.

285/35x19 RE-71R's?
Yes. No bulging, looks like it was meant for it. 285's are about the limit though on an 8.5" rim, road racers would go wider anyway. The car ran at the weekend and killed it PAX wise, 19" NSX rims/285 front, 20" CTR rims/245 rear to help it rotate.

chi town brat is going with a conventional square setup initially - 19" NSX fronts/265 RE71's all round, 40+ lbs of unsprung weight saved.

I am curious to see 285s with no bulging. Also what tire was it?
I have 255s on a 9 on my S2000 and although they are not bulging, it's pretty round. I'd think 285s on a 8.5 would be round considering its 30mm more tire and 12mm less width but who knows.

As stated above, 285/35X19 RE71's. I played with the NSX rims on the good ladies car yesterday, they look good with her PMM color, you have to look twice to see that they aren't original.

Give the girl a chance to catch her breath :)

She's been at different race tracks and busy schooling a high profile CTR owner on the benefits of these wheels as well as attending her own events, (another first in class yesterday), the pics will have to wait.
