So, my baby is two and a half weeks old...got a call from campus cops telling me that my car had just been hit. Mind you...in this lot...there was me...a white dodge van - 3 spaces over...and this box truck. It's not like Boost Blue blends in with the background, either... Lots of plastic will need to be replaced...and then there's depreciated value....not sure how successful I'll be, but that is like $10k on top of repair costs...

I should have stayed home...

It is...no frame or anything....but the depreciated value is gonna hurt come trade in time...going to have to recoup that.

Just yesterday a classmate had their car ding, while they were parked and still in it!
Apparently the lady got out, looked at the damage and just walked off. Smh

At least the driver called police services and submitted a report. I was at work...on university property, hit by another university employee in a university truck...there was quite a bit of room around me. How the guy even hit me is a source of puzzlement to me....

Dang it, that blows. That was one of the downfalls of having a bright car as it may make it more visible but also attract the driver to drive directly into is as well. Looks mostly cosmetics but yea, the fact that it has been in a collision will affect the value later on. Just go out and enjoy as much as you can, hopefully the parts to repair it isn't on back order like the rest of the parts.

This too, atleast the other party notified the police about it instead of driving off.

I have to wait until NEXT Wed to even get an estimate...and then late Oct/early Nov for repair appt...IF the parts are available....ugh...

That's what the dealer told me... I don't think I 'deserve' anything other than what it took away from me. And it WILL take away later, since there will be a CarFax. Whatever that number is...I want.

I'd expect $10k of reduced value (25% of the price of the car, new) on a salvage title. This is nothing big to worry about. A dealer might try to hassle you over around $2k down the line if you trade it in. Private party... show them the pictures and they might not even care.
