So I have a set of NSX wheels - love em - but when I turn right I hear a tic tic tic tic noise, like something touching the wheel or something? Or a pebble bouncing around - just on right turns. It doesn't happen on left turns.

To resolve I've tried -

Spraying out my dust shields for pebbles - jacked up car - full visual inspection can't see anything

The odd part -

If I put my stock wheels back on the noise goes away.

Any ideas?

Make sure when putting them on they are tightend in a stat pattern the wheel could have been put on slightly off center causing the noise

rock/nail in your tire
Nah checked that - did it with new set of tires on - good idea though? Really sounds like a pebble rolling around super odd.

Yeah I take a ton of time and have hub centric rings - I tighten slowly opposing bolts until tight then torque to 90ft lbs. Like I said, stock wheels - no noise - NSX wheels - tic tic tic on right turn.

Does it always occur when turning right, slow or fast - not speed related? Switch wheel to another location and see if sound follows wheel. It's possible to have a broken wheel and the tic is metal-to-metal (rub) due to loading shift.

I can really only hear it when I'm in my parking garage so that's where it's most evident - slow speed. I did change the wheels from front to back when I got new meat on them - think the tire place would note if the rim cracked? Good thought though and something to keep in mind!

But have you only had the "tic" with one wheel of the NSX set on or more than one in the right front position? (Knowing how noise can echo/travel in an enclosed space, don't discount the left front tire/wheel either.)

Hard to say tbh. It sounds like front but difficult to judge. Imma fiddle with the center caps and see if they are loose at all.

Doesn’t it sound like some wheel weights are loose and tapping against the wheel? I hear that sound at low speed, on my Advan R6, but not always. So it isn’t exclusive to NSX wheels. I’ll take it to a mechanic to give it a look soon.

Another good option to check! Thanks!

Either a hairline crack in the rim or a bad tire as in internal in the ribbing.
