I know this engine has a unique DI ticking sound. But i am hearing a distinct rattling sound pattern on top of that ticking.

i’ll post a link so that everyone could listen.

hope you could shed a light on this.

thanks

Same noise. My dealer adjust valve, change timing chain, vtc. Finaly they open engine and found nothing

They put a new engine (head and bloc) but the rattle still there.

I have no idea ?

Honestly it probably means its one of those "normal" noises. Gen 3 coyotes have them as well.

Could it have something to do with the mounts or something else moving slightly? it sounds like something tapping along with the injectors to me but doesn't sound internal....

I have 2019 and do not have that noise
Haha I just went out to mine to listen to make sure I didnt have it either. But cars make noises... we had a 2020 Jeep Rubicon turbo and that was the WORST sounding motor I have ever had, but ran like a tank.

definitely curious to see how long this motor will last. I think someone already put 100k on it already

engines have normal sounds that may worry you but are normal in operation. ive never had an engine(gas or diesel) that didnt have weird sounds and put many miles on them with no issues.
i would only be worried about rod knock, piston slap or any new odd valvetrain noises that get louder upon rev increase. these are 4 cylinder engines not MB V12.

Its a Honda K series. It will run forever like all Honda motors. I remember when I first bought my S2000 in 05 and on S2ki people were saying it wouldn't last with the 9k rpm redline, etc. And guess what? People starting hitting 200k on them no problem.

Also, my f20C sounded like a bucket of bolts rattling around, much louder (minus the DI) then my FK8.

Don’t beat on it. Change your oil earlier if you do, like at 50%

I have a similar noise, mine sounds more like the early stages of this noise- sort of like a worn out pulley. I’m guessing maybe in your case too it is actually a bad pulley or tensioner. Another member on here it actually was his AC compressor. They changed it and the noise went away completely. Makes sense for you it’s prob one of these since they swapped back over those parts and that’s why the noise followed.

I went to two dealers and they both ruled the noise normal… it is definitely not normal but at least it’s documented if it gets worse.
