Normal I believe, I have the same thing. That click releases something so you can push the little button behind the shift knob.

I just noticed today when the car is on parked there is a weird clicking noise when I push on the break. The sound seems to come from under the gear box.Has anyone experienced something like this? Or have an idea of what it could be?

The noise coming from the shift lever? That is when you press the brake it allows you to shift from P to another gear. If your foot is not on the brake it wont let you change into R or P. Essentially pressing the brake pedal releases the shift lever lock. That is the sound you are hearing.

The click is the unlocking of the shifter button. Try shifting out of park without applying the brakes! The button won't depress, to keep you from shifting into gear while under load, which could damage the tranny.
