Just wondering what the weight of the stock wheels are (if you measure with the tire, we can lookup the tire weight and figure it out)?

I also wanted to confirm what the offset is?

Enkei RPF1 18X8.5 ET40 wheels are about $1144 for a set at tire rack. Michelin PS4S tires are $480 a set cheaper in 245/40-18 than 245/30-20, so after 3 sets of 18 inch tires instead of 20 inch, you more than cover the cost of the wheels. Plus the RPF1 wheels are only 18.2 pounds each and they still have value used, so you are probably well ahead with just one set of tires (save $480, then sell wheels later). The wheels may need a 5 mm spacer to look right though, if the stock offset is less than 40 mm.

i dont know the weight but its 60mm. Honestly i dont know much about the dual axis suspension and the pivot point changes it can induce torquesteer.

Are you sure it's 60? Most of the wheels tire rack are selling are around 30-40 mm and in another thread someone said 32 mm. I agree we need to match the factory offset for the torque steer.

Combined tire/wheel weight is 53 lbs and tire is listed at 23 lbs which makes the wheel 30 lbs. I think the wheel is actually closer to 28 lbs (confirmed also by engineers at Honda). 28 lbs is still pretty heavy for a car that only weighs 3117 lbs. I haven't weighed it without the tire though so don't know for sure. What we do all know for sure is that the factory wheel is 20x8.5 ET60. This has been confirmed earlier and I just looked at in in person myself. There aren't really many cars in a 5/120 PCD that run this width/offset so don't expect to find too many options off the shelf for a couple months that will match the OE offset.

You are right though to try and keep the offset close to the original. Going to an ET40 may induce torque steer due to increasing the scrub radius. If you look at some of other threads there are explanations about this. My guess is a lot of people are going to run an ET45 or something and just sacrifice a little. It may not be that big of a deal. I'm going to run things a little more conservatively, probably an ET50 at a minimum and make up for some of that sucked-in front space with increased wheel/tire width. Given the heavy combined weight of the OE wheel/tire, it is going to be easy to go to a wider tire/wheel combination and still shave several lbs per corner AND maintain proper load ratings for safety.

Thanks a lot Wheel_Guy (and boostlag) for the info! I think I want to keep right to 60mm, even if it looks a bit tucked stock... uhg I'll need to see if RPF1s are available in a bigger offset. I know there are are better looking wheels, but none have the combination of strength, cost, and lightness for the track. Served me well for 130k miles on my WRX.

RPF1s do not clear the Brembo brakes on an STI. You need spacers to clear it. Of course the Type R's geometry could be totally different. Just check before purchasing.

I rotated the tire's and test fit some wheels today. While they OEM's were off, we did measure the offset at +60. Such a high offset lol I think it will be difficult to find a set, but will probably wait for the TE37's.

HRE 840R's that a buddy had laying around. They are M3 specs, so staggered. I don't think I'll be buying them though- too much to rebarrell/relip and powder coat

I did a Wheels On pic and I think the TE37's look perfect

If you're going to run staggered, I'd guess stick to a 0.5 inch difference and run the wider ones in front.

HRE 840Rs? Wow. Old-school cool. I know them well.

I think I know why the OE wheels are so heavy. That inner flange on the barrel is solid. I've only seen that on race wheels. Honda must want these to be really stiff. I noticed it looking at the wheels in person and you can see it in the photo where you're measuring the backspace.

Is there an increased safety risk by running lighter aftermarket wheel without the solid flange? I'm assuming it should be fine under normal conditions, but what about track conditions?

Actually. After I mentioned the flange, I noticed a few more OE wheels like this so I was making more of it than I realized. I wouldn't worry about the lighter flange on aftermarket wheels... at least those that come from reputable companies. If they're passing proper fatigue and impact tests at high enough load levels, I wouldn't stress it. Forged wheels in particular tend to do better at resisting impact as the material is able to absorb higher energy levels (has higher toughness).

I checked before I bought mine from Tegiwa and the part number was not listed at the American dealers that I checked online, nor at my local (Canadian) dealer. Shipping was not that expensive and the exchange rate was good. Keep in mind that the prices on the Tegiwaimports.com website include 20% VAT - just make an account with your address and your cart will automatically be updated with the correct (lower) pricing. There are also numerous UK Honda dealers that sell the same rims, but Tegiwa has good shipping rates and also has sales occasionally so if you follow them then you'll eventually see a discount code.

DHL shipping is sloooow but I also got mine from across the pond.

I'm torn as I have driven daily 3k miles on the original LE and cup tires and now after switching for comfort and not bending a rare BBS, I'm now feeling the drag of FK2 heavier wheel and the PS4S 245/35R19 tires. Objective is the keep closest to stock height and Offset to avoid altering the axis that the LE upgraded suspension is for. In this hot 100 degree weather I felt they handled very well but just missing that hard bounce and sharp crispness in R mode it was prior as it feels stuck in comfort mode now with this set up ?

Doesn't fill up the stock stance imo but the glossy black does match the roof and black trim better.

Rating myself 7/10 happy with this OEM FK2 stock similar look to the LE BBS but def better for daily vs potholes. Slightly changing the look but staying the same "LE OEM look"

Note: Must buy Gloss black caps to match also if switching from LE
