Did some chops of my car with similar wheels. I probably made the wheels too big but you get the idea:

Voxx Leggero

Making a decision on wheels is tough. The Raijins are identical to the Pro Corsa basically. Those Legerro's are a bit different and darker. I like 'em. That finish is "dark matte titanium". The good thing is I'm keeping this car a long time so I have a while to decide. ;)

Something to consider.
Just like the Cosimc Blue, wheels that are gray/silver can look different depending on the lighting.

I think it just depends on what's your goal. If you want to increase performance, a lighter 17" wheel will do the trick. But I think an 18" wheel brings the balance of style while maintaining performance.

I had the Raijins (18x8.5"). They weigh about 21lbs, which is the pretty much the same weight as my stock rims (22lbs). Yes, a wider tire (235/40/18) brings the total weight slightly up. My butt dyno felt no change in acceleration. I can't comment on a noticeable change in handling solely based on a wider tire as I lowered my vehicle at the same time I got new wheels.

There's a reason why 18x8.5 wheel with a 235/40/18 tire is the most common combination on here. It's a tried and true size. Just save up :)

How much are 18 inch tires cost wise over 17s?

Hmm have you checked older hfp designs? They're so cheap right now and they're oem

I did but for the most part they are still $200+ a wheel aren't they? Genuine, not replicas.

I've seen genuine 8th gen and 8th gen civic hfp for 120 a piece new and the 8th gen are 45mm offset which is nice. I might pick some up and I checked tire rack the difference between 17 and 18 tires is like 20-40 a piece a tire

There's another thread related to this. Albeit for summer tires on OE 17" rims. I suggested 225/50/17 on stock rims for larger selections and improved stability (wider tires).

https://www.civicx.com/threads/gett...ty-check-on-choices-please.33762/#post-567701

If OP wishes to stay with OE 17" rims, maybe sell Nokian and Firestone tires and get 225/50/17?

Another option is to look out for a set of 18" Si wheel/tire combo for around 800 in the Classifieds section, if not in a hurry. I don't think there's any weight saving going this route but improvement on handling performance is immediate (firsthand experience) over the stock 17" wheel/tire combo. I'm suggesting this since OP is already willing to spend 600 on 17" wheels alone. Maybe selling the 17" OE wheels and Nokians will help offset this?

Just throwing out some ideas. Good luck on your quest :)

TypeSiR, I considered the 225/50-17 size but since the tire is nearly 1/2" taller, my speedo would read slow. I think that would bug me. I also considered 225/45-17, but the speedometer would read too fast because they're 1/2" shorter. And, they'd fill the wheel well even less than stock (I'm not lowering).

87elco, keep something in mind about those 215/45-18's. Even though Tire Rack lists that as the recommended size, you might want to stick to 7.5" wide rims with those. On 8", it's possibly OK too, but might start looking slightly stretched depending on the exact tire. On 8.5" and above, it will be stretched.

Well, I'm making progress. After a bunch of research (my head hurts lol) I'm sold on upgrading to 18" wheels. For tire size, I'm still torn between the taller, cushier 225/45's and the wider, more popular 235/40's.

The pluses with the 235/40 is a wider track, slightly better looks and speedo accuracy. With the 225/45's, I'd get a slightly smoother ride will the taller sidewall and less fender gap, but the speedo would be off 2%.

I've also got my final two:

18x8 Enkei Raijin in gunmetal - 20 lbs.
18x8 Voxx Legerro in dark gunmetal - 20.9 lbs.

Now I just need to start saving my pennies.
My money is you're going to get the Raijins with 235 tires :). In a couple of years lowered on Eibach Pro-kit.
