Hey guys,

Walked out this morning and someone ran into my 2017 Ex-T. It looks like the back wheel is bent in, My vehicle stability assist light flickered when I drove it, and The damage even ruined the alignment of my steering wheel.

I’m just bummed. I’ve only had it for a few months and now I’m paying brand new car money for a car that’s been repaired.

Should I be concerned about this about of damage?

I'd be concerned.

If there is any suspension damage, you could be looking at $4-5k in repairs, depending on how the body shop wants to fix the door.

I see:
Replace/paint bumper
Replace/paint rear quarter
Replace wheel (first picture looked damaged, last didn't)
Possible upper/lower control arm, and anything else that got bent in the process (end links, etc)
Re-skin/replace door and paint
Wheel alignment
Any sensors damaged in the accident or during repair
Check that any airbag sensors in the bumper aren't broken/tripped
Check that subframe is still straight

Wow that seems like a lot of work. It wouldn’t be enough to total the car would it?

it was a big crash! the door gap is messed pretty bad. Call the police, the other car must have a lot of damage too, they may be able to find it

Here in ND, if a car goes to a body shop without an accident report, they report it to local police.

i would try to get a police report first before anything. Also, winter tires in june? unless it's warranted in where you live, do everyone a favor and switch them out.

So, here is the weird thing. I called geico right away to see what the procedure would be to get this fixed ASAP. When she asked if I made a report and I said no, she replied with it’s ok you don’t have to. I thought I was kind of weird. I’m considering reporting it even though the car is already at the shop.

Anyway, I have full coverage and gap insurance so I’m ready for whatever.

Do you park in the street?
Yup I do.
This has become a problem. I park in my garage overnight and would consider nothing less. The only bad thing that I did was back into a pole but I'm only down a bumper clip or two, noting like this. Your steering wheel is inside your car and shouldn't be damaged from an exterior collision.

I wish I had a garage to park in. Spaces are usually taken by the time I get home, so I have to park wherever I can. It’s weird, my wheels are straight but my steering wheel is turned 45 degrees to the right.

looks like enough force to push you car into a parking block and bend or strip some steering parts.
