Thanks for the breakdown. Do you anticipate the fueling system to be a limiting factor for the inevitable stock location turbo upgrade options?
Not really, the goal is a turbo that makes just enough to use the fuel system. Beyond that we're planning on throwing away the servo based system and using a real turbo ;)

BTW, the linked Evans video has a lot of mis-information. You can move SOI, but you're not changing the "window" (would imply the duration of spray?), 7ms is 7ms. Certainly moving when you start to inject fuel can have a big impact on the way a D/I engine runs.

So, the real question is, what kind of power limit can people realistically expect from the platform, even if they upgrade the turbo?
My goal is a legitimate 350-400whp on this motor. Maybe more.

;)

BTW if anyone is curious about D/I in more depth, it's actually all smoke and mirrors, and terrible overall (worse for emissions even). Pretty sure the OEM's are only doing it for government tax breaks. It makes zero practical sense to use D/I on a gas engine.

Sounds like it's time to swap in a turbo K20 from an 8th. LOL! But I think most people would be completely satisfied if they could have 300hp daily with a few upgrades.

He also mentioned DI AFR at wot it's ideal to be at 12.5,12.8? Is that cobalt SS specific or does it also apply on our Civics? I'm seeing 11.2-11.8 AFR's at WOT on my logs from your tune.

Just wondering.

That's far from ideal on any F/I application, D/I or not.
That's what I thought. However, If you watch the video posted earlier from Evanstuning he specifically mentions 12.8 AFR at WOT is actually ideal for D/I applications. May just be a turbo cobalt SS thing or he's just totally incorrect.

Seems like he is putting out lots of incorrect/misinformed information...

350-400 whp would be amazing. Is the 1.5t always going to make more torque than horsepower so to speak?

Cut up both the base and the Si D/I pumps to get inside the innards of them!

What did you find were the differences? Is the piston size different between the two? Do you have any more pics?

Would love to learn what the max possible power that could be expected on 93 would be. Exciting times!

I saw vit post you could go over 30 psi but you were maxing out the system and mentioned once you start putting 350 lb/ft tq you gotta worry about rods especially if you lug the motor.
