So no need to pull the ignition fuse and turn it a couple times? Thanks alot
I may have poured a little bit of oil in the oil inlet before connecting the oil inlet tube... Having a hard time recalling. But you should be fine, it doesn't pressurize the oil just runs out the bottom so you would only be priming the fill tube which will happen instantly upon the engine turning over. Unless you changed you oil at the same time.
After reinstalling the oil return line (with a new o-ring-screen), I used a straw to grab and drop a few drops of the new oil I would be using into the oil inlet, then reinstalled the upper oil line (Again, new gasket). Hereā€™s my install thread. No other priming was necessary. The last thing I did was swap in 0W-40, then flash to the Phearable tune, and fire it up! šŸ”„

I bought the @VargasTurboTech GC turbo in march, did not receive until June and finally this weekend installed it.

I decided to go to the GC turbo from the RV6 r365 for a few reasons.
  1. The 93 dyno numbers that @Neddih shared when he tuned with IMW were very impressive. The first drop-in turn I've seen that high.
  2. The torque curve on his dyno was also very attractive, came in much sooner and a higher number than the R365
  3. I love the RV6 turbo but since I don't plan to go ethanol I wanted to get some of my low end power back. When at Watkins Glen, there were a few areas coming out of turns that the turbo lag killed my straightaway speed potential.
  4. The compressor wheel is of a very good design, the turbine wheel is 9-blade. Vargas has been making drop-in turbos for Audi/bmw for years, I believe they have a good design in place and they took what they know and applied to the Honda platform.
First test drive down on the IMW starter file, already I can feel how much sooner the boost comes in only at partial throttle. Cannot wait until final tune to see how it feels..

I will continue to update this thread as time goes on.

The only change I made to this turbo was opening up the compressor outlet port to match the oversized PRL TIP crossover pipe. You can see details if that on my build thread if you wish.

First pics are the RV6 vs GC

I'm guessing you replaced all the gaskets when you did this install?

[/QUOTEall except for the coolant flange to turbo since the Honda dealer didn't have in stock, I used old gasket with a skim coat of rtv.

Dont you have the prl hvdp?
I have the same concern and I ordered a pre lube like this one below. My turbocharger will be delivered in a week and this one is a pre caution. I also will change the oil with Motul 300V 0W/40 before hitting the road with GC+.

Turbo does not need to be primed just follow the install instructions on the card when you get it and you will be fine. Coming from the turbo manufacture. They tell you to start the car and let it run for a few min then drive the car shifting at of bellow 4000 rpms for a few miles. There have been quite a few of these turbos installed in this manner with no issues. Welcome to the GC+ Crew. I am thinking of making a custom sticker

We did it brehs. Got everything buttoned up right as it began to rain, checked all the connections and for leaks. Now putting it through it's paces and waiting for dry weather to see the real differences.
Thanks for all the information and tips, and special s/o to Sport-injected for letting us jack his thread. šŸ˜‚

No worries, that's exactly why I post on here. Lol. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the turbo once you get to play around a bit.

From a spreadsheet I had put together regarding turbochargers available for the turbocharged 10th gen L15 platform (Including some that others are based on):

Turbo "Max" WHP@PSIBearingA/RC. Ind.C. Exd.C. BladesT. Ind.T. Exd.T. Blades
MHI TD03290.0028.00Journal0.5039.4049.009.0040.0035.9012.00
MHI TD04350.0028.00Journal0.5640.7056.0012.0047.1641.1211.00

I may be off a smidge with some of my little project's entries, but are still good reference points.
I wonder how the W1 compares on these numbers.
