"Upgraded" Climate Control Install

Does the "LCD panel" climate control screen use a constant brightness, or does it vary with the car headlights / light sensor / dash illumination adjuster stalk? Thanks!

When I drive at night in the country, I like my car to be DARK. Like I turn off my Headunit screen, and turn down the interior lights to the minimum, ... in fact wish I could turn them OFF entirely.

Hi! A long the has passed since last post.

I have a 19 Sport EUDM modell ,with heated seats , NONFL.
I really want to have the physical climate buttons, so I ordered one from ebay.

I made some pictures:
The upper one is the FL version.

This is the back of the bigger connector: 3 browns, 1grey, 1 blue, 1 green cables.
The green is the LIN com line.

The small connector is for the airbag light.

I plugged in.
Everything works well, except the airblow + and - buttons .


What do you think, is it enough to replace the head unit, or do I have to replace a Climate Computer Unit?

Yes you need replace ac cpu

You can’t change the lcd brightness, because it’s a standalone unit. It’s independent from the head unit.

It should be able to dim with the interior dash lights dimmer switch. I’d be surprised if it didn’t.

Mine dimmed in line with everything else, the car is a 2020 sport coupe, and I have no idea what model ac controls I bought unfortunately, but I do like mine specifically because of the matte buttons vs gloss buttons, I am in the market for adding heated seats eventually, and I did look at another donor board and it does have spots for the buttons, I'm curious if I sauter buttons onto those connectors if I can make it work.....

If you replace 2020 ac control panel but can’t control fan rpm (2018 hu) you can replace 2020 ac cpu(79610-tbc-a81) you can solve this problem

Is this a plug and play swap or does it need other modifications?

For example can I go and purchase the 2020 climate controls and cpu, put both in my 2017 and it will just work? Are there any differences I need to be aware of between trims or can I just go on ebay and purchase one from a 2020+ car?

Direct installation, no need to modify, need to pay attention to the part number, 1.5T is different from 2.0T A/C CPU, the above part number is 1.5T

Awesome thanks, I cannot seem to find that part number but that might be a UK/RHD market thing, I can find 1.5T 2020+ AC controllers for sale with a different part number so that should do the trick.

Might not mean much however, my car has heated seats and they stopped offering heated seats on the facelift in the UK so I cannot find any RHD 2020+ Control Panels so I guess this is a no-go for me anyway unless I can bodge together parts from different units. (Or maybe track down a JP/AU part, not sure if they had different options)

For those in RHD Countries with heated seats, P/N: 79600TGG941ZB. This is the RHD variant of the climate controls with the fan knob and heated seat buttons from the JDM FK7 (Seems like none of the JDM cars came with the on-screen climate controls, they seemingly all used an entirely different head unit). No clue if it works in other markets but I am going to get one imported and try it out.

I am glad this unit exists as I would much rather do away with the on-screen controls alltogether and I have no need for dual-zone
