VTC is essentially what all the other car manufacturers were putting out... VTEC was/is Honda's differentiator from those other engines... designed for good low-end power and peak performance at higher RPMs... Since the 1.5L is turbo, it doesn't necessarily need that extra boost up top b/c the turbo will help carry it much like VTEC would at a specific RPM...

like @Tuttle said, VTC was on the intake cam of most i-VTEC DOHC motors and is now on both the intake and exhaust cams allowing for greater engine dynamics vs a single DOHC cam with it... I'm just glad they didn't kill VTC and hopefully when the tuner world gets ahold of the cars, they can release a tune with actual dual VTC cams with VTEC!!!

going by all the specs and numbers, the 1.5T should perform much like the previous gen Si... and that's saying a lot for not being the "sportier" model...

The preliminary virtual numbers are overinflated. Doesn't account for BATs, intake turbulence, or drag coefficient. Insignificant on their own. But combined could account for up to a half second delta in the 1/4.

The only saving grace is the CVT keeping power in the sweet spot during acceleration.

165whp, thats what the current SI is putting down and its rated at 205hp. That seems quite high for a 174hp car.

Focus ST 252hp, 270tq : 6.3sec 0-60, 14.9 1/4mile
Civic 2016T 174hp, 162tq : *unicorn numbers* 6.5sec 0-60, 14.9 1/4mile ?

The new civic looks great, but lets keep it real.
The Focus does not have the refinement though
